US Postal service at the cheapest rate

Depends on how big your package is, if it's over 20 to 30kg & has big dimensions you will have to send it with a private courier such as UPS or DHL which will cost you significantly more. Go to the nearest Post office & check out

You also need to consider the value of the item being sent. If you have to insure/register it, it has to be signed for and secured at every point alond the way, which can add to the delivery time, up to one month instead of 10-14 days. But at least then you know it won't "disappear" in transit, which people have warned me about.

The recipient may also have to pay a duty upon receiving the parcel. That is what happened to me when I sent an Ipod to a friend for Xmas.

Yes, I know I read the question. The post office is the cheapest because from there on you can only send it on more expensive private couriers such as DHL or UPS...

I don't know what you expect to be cheaper than the standard, normal, cheapest rate post office sending.

The only way I can imagine is that you give it to someone who's going to continental Europe & he can ship it from there, that'd cut it down quite a bit.

In Toronto, we have a number of Polish Travel agents (Piast, Polimex...) They have a forwarding company right in the shop. Reasonable prices for either Air or Sea Freight.

Polamer is the place to go to when you ship stuff to Poland. Has anybody been to any Polamer location on the weekend? People still send to Poland huge packages. From clothes, to bikes, to kids car seats. You can also arrange to send a car. Polamer has many locations including suburbs. Of course, there are many other Travel Agencies who ship packages. Much less expensive than via Post Office.

You can weigh your parcel, call Polamer and ask them how much to ship it and then mail it to them with an enclosed cheque or money order for the shipping costs. (If you need insurance don't forget to ask about that.) I've used Polimex in Canada to ship boxes and have been very pleased with the service. Way cheaper than the post (my parents just paid nearly $50 to insure and send a palm pilot to me in the post - took over 2 months surface.) They also will deliver to your door (with a 20-30kg carton, you can bet the post office won't do that here - you have to come and pick it up!)

Merged: Reputable carrier to ship to orphanage in Poland.

Our church wants to ship a cargo container to a school/orphanage in Poland. Is there a reputable carrier that someone can recommend?
