Missing Mail sent from Canada to Poland - Black Hole

ok..... i'd like to know if any of you have had experienced mail from North America that has never made it to PL.

I sent a package Feb10 2006 from Canada, to PL and it still has not arrived. And Canada Post does not offer tracking on a small package.

My friend sent me a package Mar 2 07 from Canada.... still not arrived.

Another friend sent me a DVD last month, and it got here in 6 days. My mom sent me things thru the post andit was about 1-2 weeks.

Now I want to find this black hole of missing mail

I'm afraid you won't. Polish people in the UK sending their parcels via normal mail encounter the same problem - there seems to be a great theft in Polish Mail (Poczta Polska).

Only one explanation.............the government is watching you. Run while they still don't know you've caught on!!!!!

You are now the enemy of the state. I can help you. There will be a package taped to the bottom of seat 63 on train 12 in subway 3 in the Bronx. Get there fast. Ask for Mr. Babaganoosh.

that's strange, I have beec sending a lot of small packages to Poland from Canada and never had such an experiance. Did you and your mother send it via Air Mail? I t's a bit more expensive but it surely gets there:). I don't think there is any other way. I hope this helped.

No.....you can always get a Cuban to row it over in his pickup. I mean they get to Florida like that, don't they?

o, ya .I had this problem before. I remember sending parcels from Canada to Poland and it never made it to the recipient. Unfortunately, some polish postal workers are stealing a lot, they open parcels and even letters looking for money or other valubles. My mom says that amost every letter I send her had been open .She didn't get a few parcels from me, some parcels she did recieve but a few items had been missing , so I stopped sending stuff.

once we sent 10 parcels from Poland to Canada , only 7 arrived in Canada :)

most of the parcels sent to Poland made it , except for maybe 2 ? that got lost:)

We all know that people at the Post office and mail men in Poland steal parcels and mail it is a common occurance. :)

I have been using Polimex, a delivery company to send from CDA to PL. They have been good. 1-2 weeks by air.

Unfortunately my mom sent me some things I need rather soon,(March 11) and the Agent, circled "SEA" instead of "AIR" so i'll have it mid May. She knew I need them quick, and they've always shipped by air, but what happened is out of my control.

It's in a container somewhere on the Atlantic.

Polimex is pretty good, I must say.
If I need something soon, or they do, I just pay extra for the Express or Air Mail. Never had any problems.

Good luck in the future

Bad luck.

My parents have been sending big packages to PL from Canada for about 20 years now. No problems thus far!

Be glad you are not in the West Indies. I get mail from family in Germany and Poland at it regularly gets sent to The Phillipines and Jamaica. I got one yesterday and that ended up in Nicaragua before I eventually received it.

yeah i've had a few parcels that got lost. if you send it from canada regular post then you're screwed unless it's tracked and registered, even then it's not recommended.

I know this thread is about Canada mail going missing , but i just wanted to say that all the parcels my sister sent me to Poland from the UK , got here with no trouble at all , nothing went missing...Some of the parcels contained stuff like camera,s and other nice goodies , but all got here ok....Letters too get here unopened , the only three letters that went missing were those that had zloty inside them , so obviously they have a machine somewhere that x rays the letters , and they can see whats in them...I am not sure they have such a machine in Poland , but i know they do in UK , as an anti terrorist measure , so its quite possible these items went missing in UK , not in Poland.....

I plan on sending an iPod from Canada to Poland (i know this is a high risk item) but what is my safest bet? How much custom duty do they charge in Poland?

Is there an easier way to avoid customs .. what is the safest way to send it?

Some Poles in the US mail electronics in a cereal box. LOL. They stuff it inside with the cereal to avoid customs.
They never cease to amaze me...lol

I have worked in postal dispatch center in Wroclaw on couple of occasions - before Christmas (starting in November already) they hire temporary help and this is the source of theft - I have witnessed empty parcels being discovered behind fridge in staff room - but it must have been a work of a single person then (there were just a couple of them) - the guards rarely checked the lugage of the poeple leaving the facility that was another reason (and it was also possible to leave it completely unnoticed too - now the facility has been moved and it's a bit different) still I don't think theft was or is common - worked with dozens of people there most of whom seemed to be honest even if not always hard working
