College Grants or Scholarships in America for being of Polish decent.

Hi, I was born in the U.S and my parents are both from Poland. I was wondering if there are any college grants of scholarships here in America for people who are of Polish decent. We dont have any Polish kids at my school, and my counselors can't find anything either.

They do have essays and contests where you can win a scholarship if you are of Polish descent. They usually advertise in Polish Newspapers like the "Dziennik" or the "Gwiazda Polarna". Maybe you can google something too.

of Polish decent

you probably meant to say Polish descent

I was born in the U.S

this might explain your misuse of the English language

If you have citizenship, you may come to Poland and study for free.

I had the same problem at school, my counselors couldnt find anything either, so I said screw it. But you could do what Grzegorz said and go to Poland....but their schooling is harder than ours.

but i thought was only for certain grades - i know my gf has to pay for her courses and she is in uni

and they claim irish uni's are free but the registration fees are so high to make up for the 'free' tuition lol

How far back can your polish decent be? My sons great grandather came to the State. My mother in law thought I should look into this for my son. He is graduating this year, 2008. and is looking to pursue game art design. Would he qualify for any grants for scholarships?Any information would be great. How could someone with polish decent study for free in Poland?

Look on fastweb.com you plug in all your information (including nationalities) and then they show you all the various scholarships that you quality for. If I recall correctly from when I used the site many years ago, there are even some of for people of Polish descent. The site lists many scholarships that aren't well known (or at least it used to) so its a good resource to use. When I used it, it was a free service....hopefully it still is. =)

Diane’s misuse of descent may simply have been a slip of the finger.
We (Americans) may not be the best spellers but we are polite people.
We are not so rude as to publicly correct someone. You could have written, I do not know of any grants for students of Polish descent. That way you would have corrected her without being rude.

Spelling may not be her best subject, however she may be very articulate or a brilliant scientist. Who knows.

While thinking of my many trips abroad, including Poland where my descendents are from, most people do speak better English than we do. L What a shame. Myself, I CAN spell but I’m not the best when it comes to punctuation. Ease up on our use of the English language. Allot of us don’t speak English, we speak American. J

Good girl. Witek has to be nominated as the dupa of the year. I hope that he feels proud of himself.

hey, look in the books of scholarships and grants (that is not their title though) at your local library.. there are many, many polish based scholarships and grants.. most do involve writing essays or what not but many don't.. all you have to do is apply.. there are probably more polished based ones then any other nationality.. seriously..

I agree with livpol! How correcting someone publically, does not reflect well on you, but it shows everyone elso how ignorant you are. Have you ever heard the saying: be the bigger person?

I am assuming from your first name that you as well must be of polish decent(you might want to correct my mistake as well)? How big of you to show of that you are a great speller, but I think that you have missed the spelling bee competition..so move on.
