blackberry and iphones from north america?

So if i buy one or the other in north america, is it easy or not to use them in Poland?

No, I do not mean to ask if I can obtain one or the other in Poland, I am only asking if one bought in north america can be converted (via sim card or some other dodad) to work in Poland.
