Question: My Polish friends married in Poland last August....Unfortunately they wish to divorce !!!! Can they do this in England, would it be recognized in the courts or do they have to do this in Poland? They live here and their two children were born here if that makes any difference. Oh, they are Catholic!

I think that they can do it in the UK, but I also think that they will have to get everything translated upon their return to Poland... if they return.

they may be able to nullify the marriage since it's been such a short period.

This site maybe help: adviceguide.org.uk/index/family_parent/family/ending_a_marriage.htm

If they were married in Poland, it has to be done in Poland. All the information has to be filed in Poland. The Polish Embassy might help with the process.

Some yes, but it seems all too common these days to chuck in the towel at the first sign of trouble.

If children are involved, then I think that calling it a day after less than 12 months does seem awfully fast.

Unfortunately there's alcohol and violence involved. So sad.
