hi found the forum after putting in endless searchs for this subject and kept coming up short. I have a friend who is moved back home to poland and he has texted me his number. The trouble is my mobile, for some bizzare reason wont send text messages to anbody in my contacts. So i tried to call my mate on his polish moblie but cant for the life of me figure out the code for it. This is what comes up on my british mobile as his number +48888 ******
[Moved from]: Dialing a UK 0800 number from Poland
I need to call a UK 0800 number to activate a card. I thought if i dialed 0044800 (and the following numbers) it would work - but I'm not having any luck.
Id be surprised if free phone numbers work from outside the UK. From within the UK I know that you drop the leading 0 from the 0800 number from a mobile phone which is what you tried to do. Most institutions will have a seaparte number to call from outside the UK. Check the card company's website.
i think it depends on you phone the phone you are calling and the network.
if i call my boyfriend in poland on his polish number from my mobile use i +48........in front of his polish number also using 00 instead of + works. When i call his english vodophone number to his sony erricson phone from my tmobile or orange i just use his number as if he was here no code before it-this is also true for when i dail his english number from my land line i dont need to use a code. however he cannot seem to access passport on his english number and according to the vodophone guy i spent 2 hours talking to its because of the network his english number picks up-it can be set but every time he changes his polish-english sim the settings have to be changed-its like russian roulette trying to get a hold of each other and i thought he was avoiding me-lol
so now we are looking at skype phones or two phones on the same contract shared mins for talk time which allows each of us unlimitted free calls to the other. i have posted whether t-mobile or orange would be best for this
