London's Polish community...thinking about the Metropolitan Police.

Hello, I am a Criminology undergraduate researcher.

I am currently undertaking research centered around the new polish communities' relations with the Metroplitan Police service.

I have some questions that I'd love for you guys to answer/debate...

1. Why do you think it is that Poles are amongst the most arrested non-UK nationals in London. Do you think that it has anything to do with the language barriers that exist with the police?

2. Do you think these arrest rates would fall, or community relations would improve, if the Met. Police began to learn the Polish language?
3. Do you think that the Metropolitan Police should seek to recruit Poles as full-time Police Officers or part-time Community Support Officers? Would you (as a Pole) want to do the job?

4. Do you feel that the new Polish communties living in London are treated differently by the Met. Police than say the new Australian/South African/New Zealand communities?

Thanks for your time, Stuart

Check the threads. We've done this all before. Or at least something similar.

it does make sense, the police have been questioned about institutional racism, and many asian and black people have raised this i think its importan to address it..

the police have the upper hand they can make thigns up, manipulate a law and the poor poles wont have a clue... we need polish police officers..

once again jareck youve totally missed the point

we're not talking about claiming benefit - we're talking about crime for which poles are at the top of the league tables

It is an opinion poll not a research.

Good luck.

Thanks for your interest so far guys. These questions, if you like, are the impetus for forthcoming research I will be undertaking in the next few months. Thanks.

here here!

Yes and those causing trouble get fined very heavily so its a win win situation for the police and the country, in the UK it costs the tax payer to send them to court and then it costs the tax payer again to keep them in prison.....any none national should be kicked out and made to serve in prison in their own country! or maybe we should take the stance of the Spanish, Italian and Greek police and fine none nationals very heavily and then send them home!

Why on earth would be want a Polish speaking police force?????

The police are not employed as linguists and at the same time many members of the Met already speak a foreign language.
How many languages do you want them to learn and who is going to police the streets while they are in school learning these languages.

When the UK gets its next influx of foreign folk will they learn that language too.

Hmm... I don't know but some genius could think that maybe because they are the biggest group of foreigners...
