Hi Everyone

Just to let you all know that a new venture has opened in the UK namely "The Little Polish Deli". We have a shop in Farncombe which is in West Surrey with a train station close by and we are building a website as well, if you would like to come and say hello please do, we are open everyday except Thursday and read our emails in the evening. English and Polish is spoken in the shop and in emails if you like, please visit thelittlepolishdeli.com to find out more, but please remember we have only been open a week today.

Regards

Hello Mark & Beata,

Good luck to you and your shop. One day I may pop in for that cup of tea.

Just an update folks, there seems to be Polish people hiding everywhere, the business has taken off far quicker then we thought it would, twice we have run out of sausages due to demand, I think it's time I got on with building the website as we want to do mail order as well. What has surprised me is the amount of "brits" buying the food as well, seems that they have Polish grandparents etc. Anyhow off to work in a bit so good bye for now.

Good for you, Polish deli! Regarding your new website - I'm not sure how you would send a sausage in summer? Won't it go off... (unless you mean delivering to local customers.)

:)LOL good point, i'll have to think about that one, today we had our first home delivery, there are minor teething problems like customers should give me their house name in a street rather then just a flat number, thats one to train the shop staff on (the g/f). Please do people leave feed back like the above, it will all help, it is only Beata and myself and our heads hurt at the moment with everything that is going on, be good and stay happy.

Merged: Does anyone have experience of opening/running a Polish food shop in UK?

I have identified a need for a Polish shop in my local area and was wondering if anyone knows about the logistics of things like transporting foodstuffs from Poland to England etc..

Hmmm, I don't have any experience of the things mentioned above, but good luck anyway.

The need must be there since many Poles live in the UK. But perhaps it would be easiest to hire some Polish butchers and cooks and make Polish food in the UK? Regarding food transportation from Poland, there are many transportation companies that can do that - the question is how much it would cost.
