LOl....one mans nawty..is another mans debate....no...nothing I type on here is neither mine nor anyones views..just a jumble of words......

Polls showing majority now want independence.

May well do........but you gotta ask for permission from the man in No 10..why do you need to do so......or am I being less than pragmatic..?

Royal Bank Of Scotland CEO supports Independance financial debate

Thats laughable.......so why dont they drop the royal moniker.......you mean you'd trust the view of a bank......any bank.......profiteers at the expense of the common man....lol

PS And you are the voice of in/sanity on the board...oh...plz....!!!

But seriously.......Britian is Great........pray enlighten me....

Because there's already an un-royal bank up there.

Scottish cities have achieved much. Look at Glasgow: 1990 European Capital of Culture
1999 UK city of Architecture+Design
2003 European Capital of Sport

Edinburgh hosts the biggest performing arts festival IN THE WORLD (Edinburgh Fringe), the Edinburgh International Festival, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

A bit like Liverpool this year. There - I've mentioned an Irish, sorry - English city!

Actually, Newcastle was close to winning the competition for city of culture, but it didn't need the extra funding that is provided to go with this accolade - it's great enough without needing that helping hand.

1999 UK city of Architecture+Design

London can't win every time.

Yep, referendum on Independence planned for 2010.

.you mean you'd trust the view of a bank.

Sorry, I should have said "former"CEO, and yes, when it comes to financial matters I would heed the man that was in charge such a large money making machine.

PS And you are the voice of in/sanity on the board...oh...plz....!!!

If only......

Matthewson was long gone by then, not going to defend the RBS - point I am making is financial experts back an Independant Scotland - not quite "built on sand".

let's give Ireland some credit here though. to show that the debate is fair. I'm not gonna blindly defend everything Scotland does just because I was born there. Keeping unemployment down is not, in itself, a major triumph but it could show that people are creative in the workforce and there are sufficient bodies to accommodate most people. We gotta applaud that!! But, let's not get into handouts from the USA. I said I wasn't gonna get into the IRA but all I need to say is IRA-USA, think about it!! Clinton did!!

Ireland has shown the lead to Scotland on what can be achieved. I also believe that how the "Celtic Tiger" came about can show Poland how to boost its economic growth.

But, let's not get into handouts from the USA. I said I wasn't gonna get into the IRA but all I need to say is IRA-USA, think about it!! Clinton did!!

Whats the relevance ? IRA have got nothing to do with Irelands success.

"Celtic Tiger"

This may have been a very peculiar one off, at least within the EU.......I don't believe the required recipe can be replicated, unless there is some very fancy footwork by the new independent Scottish government to be.

Though if either Scotland or Poland can partly copy the Irish "model", great!

Yes, but Frank was talking about Scotland getting substantial assistance from the Septics and I chipped in by saying that the IRA got support from Clinton. Where's the relevance? It lies in the fact that it gave them further capabilities to pursue a noble cause (I'm not defending the means BY ANY MEANS). U may not see it as a success for Ireland Szkotja 2007, but they did.

I'm not an enemy of Ireland at all, I just like 2 argue sometimes. My mooting days are well in my past though. The Celtic Lion, hey yes!! I hope Frank watches this and conducts some verification steps. He'll find that Salmond may sometimes exaggerate certain things, but he's generally spot on. I'm from the NE of Scotland and he didn't spin any yarns about the Pentland Firth. CNBC, how did he land that interview? Best think about it!! The Lion will Roar!!

I hope not,I wouldnt want Scotland to be an utter backwards hovel run by peado preists and ex treacherous terrorists for 60 odd years before getting charity money from europe.....

No less than the English were to control, terrorise and intimidate local populaces over many centuries........on all continents and many countires......dont pull that one...!

Got no shame..??.and for your reference, was referring to the Irish War of Independence, or perhaps you would deny any country its right to self determination?

Britian was great...only in its own eyes.........

**** I can here strains of clannad in the distance, whats that coming towards me?Its Micheal flattly with a tommy gun........*******
Muppet,Im a Mick/Jock........

but you gotta ask for permission from the man in No 10..why do you need to do so.....

You mean the Scotsman?
Ireland, famous for ,mass emigration, people to dumb too try something other than potatoes for a bite to eat,Black "beer" that tastes like sludge and whiney rock stars in strange cowboy hats.

I'll give kudos for Thin lizy,3 of the Corrs , Dave Allen and Father Ted.

Miranda, just check it up in Wikipedia or Google it. At least we lay some claim to giving ourselves Lion status as the Lion Rampant is one of our cherished flags. My friend has a cool tattoo of it. What is it with Scotland and tattoos? Frank, u mean to say the Guiness and Murphy's have dulled ur senses already? It's only 9.25 in Ireland. Crack the Bushmills or Jamiesons out man and wheel out some jibber/banter

What's So Great About The UK?
The fact that people from the various countries that may have spent the last 300 years trying to blow each other up,run down hills at with big arsed swords or seizing each others post offices can take the pee out of each other and still get on when it comes down to it:)( oh,and occasionally gang up to laugh at "yanks",but the later seems to be less of an exclusive club lately ;)

To be boring for a minute, yes,it can feel a little saying Great Britain, but the Great means Large not Wonderfull, Great Britain was whats the UK Little Britain(no **********) was that bit of France we had for centuries do to Royal interbreading :)

"(no **********) "
