They get divorced in the US they do. Yoo need to contact the Polish Court system or have someone contact them on your behalf. Since marriage took place in Poland it has to be finalized there. Oh yes indeedy it has.

I would have thought that if you are residing in the United Kingdom and you are therefore residents here, an English Court would be able to annul the marriage. Have you tried the legal department at the Polish Embassy in London. There is also a Polish building called POSK in London, just outside Ravencourt Tube Station and there are all sorts of little departments within the building even including an art gallery, bookshop, cafe, restaurant, cafe, university and travel agent. I would have thought that there would be someone within the organization who could put you in touch with an expert, possibly a local citizen's advice bureau? There are so many Polish people living in the West of London that someone could help you. Otherwise, wherever you live, contact a member of your local citizens advice bureau as they give free advice, not always right, mind you! They tend to specialize in debt That is, of course, if you are within traveling distance of London.

This seems logical as all Polish documents would have to be amended. ID card etc.

As far as I know, most marriages taken anywhere in the world are recognized almost anywhere. As long as you have the documentary proof and come to an agreement with your partner, I see no reason why it can not be annulled anywhere except perhaps for property held jointly in Poland. If it is land or property then maybe a Polish court may have to be involved, otherwise I would have thought that a couple could have their marriage terminated overseas. If someone is very ill, living in Australia for example, it would be unfair and inpractacle to expect them to return to Poland.
