c

Do you think everyone in PL exercises a lot?

I have no idea to be honest, but someone else suggested that they did, so thought Id go with it. Reference to Knorr was that they seem to stock a lot of it in Polish shops in the UK. anyway, there is good and bad food in any country if you know where to find it and how to cook it... and you always like food from your home country best. I just take offence to someone stating that most food here is crap and that all meat is tasteless....blah, blah, blah.

thank you. I appreciate your support. What is the point of a forum if you cant express an opinion.

I hate when people manipulate with facts, but can't be mad at people expressing their views. You are right that existence of a forum would be pointless if people weren't able to say what they think.

Don't pay any attention to PB. All that "personal trips" are just a waste of time and energy.
And as for Polish cuisine, I agree it is rather fatty, but according to some last year survey Poles are the third thinnest nation in Europe (don’t remember if it was just EU or Europe in general) so it can’t be that unhealthy. :)

I suppose this expensive organic food is like a lot standard products in Poland. Where i can find these NATURAL vegetables etc????

Yes, these are the ones I'm talking about. Unfortunately I never tried them so I can't be of any help here for you. :( Maybe some UK residents will care to help here?

Back on topic, food has a direct relationship to life expectancy, Poland has a life expectancy of 74 years versus 76 years in the UK. The fact is eating Pork is very unhealthy, and preserved meats especially so.

Organic food is available in all supermarkets, Asda is cheap. Another common source is Farmers Markets farmersmarkets.net where farmers sell direct to the public.

Many companies do organic delivery's of seasonal vegetables. Search for Organic Box

I have to say that farmers markets are the best, fresh home grown food not imported perfectly shaped rubbish that is sold in supermarkets, you know I couldn't find a peice of fruit or a vegie that was grown in the UK when I was in my supermarket the other day apart from the organic. I think as Peterweg stated, eating vegies that are in season as aposed to those that are not is key to a healthy diet.

Also you get what you pay for you get and unfortunately a lot of what supermarkets sell is crap, use a butchers for meat, market for veg and a deli for cheese.

74 years of eating tasty pork vs 100 years of eating only healthy, low fat products...Errmmmm, 74 is the way to go. :)

problem? Where to buy good natural products besides Polish shops

Magda there is loads of healthy food in England. We've got a lot of variety, however there is also a lot of junk here.

You should be carefull with what food you buy in England. A lot of the cheap food in England is mass produced in factories and they put preservatives in them so that they have a longer shelf live.

It only takes common sense. Stop buying processed food, for example buy your bread from the baker or the freshly baked section in a food store. Don't buy ready cooked meals and avoid anything that contains preserving agents or E numbers.

I would also be carefull when buying organic foods. Just because food has organic written on it, doesn't mean it's healthy. Dont buy fresh vegetables that have been imported from other countries, buy english grown fruit and veg. Vegatables and fruit loose their nutritianal content if left for days on end.

Some vegetables can even be grown in your own garden.

The reason people get fat in england is because they just buy a food because its packaged nice. People don't read the labels and thus always end up making the wrong choices.

Even when I was in Poland, I refused to buy / eat processed food.

I must be doing something right as I'm 27 and still look 20, yet my mates of the same age are all chubby and wrinkled now. :)

I try so hard.

I'm doing it also:)

So how to recognise right one, label always is telling the truth??

Do not worry, I'm 29 :) How I look you can see on pics

Stay away from this kind of bread in supermarkets, whilst it looks nice, its even worse than normal bread, they put too much yeast in it to make it rise quicker to keep up with customer demands, good bread takes a while to make not half an hour! Bake your own.

ENGLISH FOOD?? ARE YOU POLISH GIRLS GETTING FAT ?

im a salesman working for virgin media.... i see many polish people and what they say is that the english food is shyte and its forcing them to eat our rubbish food and consequently putting on weight....is this true?

i went on a blind date to warsaw last yr to meet a girl and while i was out there i noticed a lack of fast food stores and it seem to be the attitude over there of looking well and eating well.......i dont know what it was called but over here we use butter or margarine on bread which contains lots of calories but in warsaw "ania" was using something simular to butter (it was white, dont know what it was called) which was delicious and apparently contained hardly no fatty calories......which i found amazing

(anyone know what it was called?)

the question is.............am i right and do you girls find yourself struggling to maintain your weight as you adapt to the "english attitude" ?

oh grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat my fav thread is back! Personally I find that Polish Chleb very stodgy and hard to digest.. give me a brown multi-grain freshly baked loaf anyday... available from all good supermarkets and bakeries in the UK. Talking of which, Ive noticed a huge increase in Polish food supplies in Uk supermarkets recently. Tescos and Sainsburys have had ranges for a while, but in the last month or so Morrissons and now Costcutter have all got Polish ranges, most of which are cheaper than the local Polish food stores, so Polish food shops in the Uk are being undercut by the supermarket giants.. could go on, but Im so hungry I need to head down the kebab shop.

My gf said that keeping her weight in the UK is easy as long as you exercise :) Makes sense huh?
The white butter...maybe Coral butter? Not sure what the PL word is though.

Good thing that was personally ;) IMHO Polish bred is fantastic!! US and UK bread is full of preservatives...even the multi grain.

Lol, cant believe this has had a revival

a) yes there are a lot of overweight people in the UK
b) yes there are a lot of people who eat rubbish

flipside

a) there are a lot of slim people - eating disorders is on the increase and size zero is a big thing here - pardon the pun

b) There are a lot of people that eat nornally, when I say normal I mean - home cooked meals - if Polish people get fat it has nothing to do with English food - because they can get everything here they can get in Poland - no one forces someone to eat processed food.

As for the comments on beaking bread its not difficult...even a child could do it
