Documentary Project on Polish community in UK

Hi there,

I'm a broadcast journalism student from the University of Central Lancashire based in Preston.
During my final year I am making a documentary which I will begin shooting from January onwards.
I am researching the Polish community in the North West of England as this could be my subject area.
Is anyone on the forum based in the north west? If so, what have your experiences of this country and region in particular been like? Do you know of anyone with an incredible story to tell?

The documentary will focus on a 'human interest' aspect using between 5-10 main contributors.
Thanks very much for any help you can give me and feel free to contact me via email.

If you search this forum you should be able to find quite a few "incredible stories" about Polish guys and gals. :)

As per the Irish reporter...who also was looking for responses from Polish people.........how about trying, your local hotel, pub, filling station, ...indeed any sevice type industry or more manual type jobs that a lot of immigrants are doing....?

Or hospitals, care homes etc........there are bound to be hundreds of Polish people you can make contact with....................in the most direct fashion!

And why does it have to be an incredible story to tell............................????

As per your second post......you've chosen the wrong medium to contact Polish people in England!

Thanks for the replies, especially Amathyst. I do have contacts already but I felt that I should try every possible avenue. The reason I was vague was to not to try to 'lead' any of you into answers.

Anyway, thanks for the input - I didn't realise there were so few Poles living in England on this forum!

Yep, as far as I know, there are only three regular posters participating in this forum that fulfill this criteria.

[tongue_firmly_in_cheek]...and they say we're (England) being swamped by 'em. Guess they're all too busy stealing our jobs and taking away our women to be bothered posting on an internet site eh??[/tongue_firmly_in_cheek]

I live in the South, but if you give me some contact info, I can translate your request and post it on the "Poles in England" forum, which has thousands of users.
