Yes, as I stated I was there attending my friend's wedding. It was up near Kobylka just outside of Warsaw. I met someone on the train while I was off to visit Cracow and the rest is history. I will be back this December for a while and again when I move next summer. Still working out the details on my work visa but I think it should be possible.

Watch out for bears out there!
They still exist in some parts.

Bear pulls man out of tree in Polish mountains

A bear pulled a man out of a tree in the Polish mountains on Sunday and fractured his arm, the Polish news agency PAP reported from the south-eastern town of Krosno.

The 20-year old man also had a fractured finger and other minor injuries as a result of the attack in the Bieszczady Mountains, the agency said, without explaining what he was doing up the tree in the first place.

Ok, cool it worked :)

Here is Myslenice a very nice town in the Beskidy mountains.

There was a fella paragliding with a motor thing in that picture but he is too far away you can't see him.
It was about minus 4 where I was, it must have been freezing where he was.
Paragliding is very popular around here.

Chełm sweet Chełm.

The second photo is a ski lift that takes you on a 20 minute trip up to the top of the Chełm mountain in Myslenice.

The ski lift is open and it is a beautiful walk up there :)

The various species of black bears are more timid.

but they tend to stalk and they don't give up easily.. completely opposite of the brown bear behavior.

BREAKING NEWS
Of the 24 confirmed fatalities from Brown and Black bear attacks in North America since the year 2000, 15 of them were by Black Bears. Admittedely there are a lot more of the little devils but still a bear is a bear and under the wrong circumstances they are freakin dangerous.

yeap.. this is partially due to black bear population lives way closer to humans..

Chełm overlooking Myslenice.

First photo is of the ski slope and in the distance Myslenice.

Second photo is a close up of the first showing the main town church and market square of Myslenice.

And the last is of some of the wonderful forest on the walk up, it is only about an hour and a half walk up to the top from the market square and there is a pub restaurant at the top.

There is also a working ski lift that you can take up, it takes about 20 minutes, many people take their mountain bikes up on these and some how avoid the trees on the way down.

There were a lot of bugs today but an enjoyable walk non the less.

That usually means there has been rain - has there? If so, how many mushrooms did you see? The season should be underway there, right? It should be here, too (southeastern NY State, US), and we've had PLENTY of rain to support it, but are just now starting to get some summer temperatures - it's been unusually cool.

Ah, there have been floods.
There are mosquitoes in Warsaw city which have also been blamed on the floods.
I saw some mushrooms but I don't pick mushrooms.
I was going to photograph some but I was being eaten alive hahahaha, I had to run down through the forest.

The season should be underway there, right?

Word on the street says it is coming into mushroom season now ;)

it's been unusually cool.

It has been hot here very hot 35-40, hhmm I don't know what that is in Fahrenheit but it is hot for me anyway :)

A couple pieces of info about black bears.
-very dangerous
-do not run away, you stand no chance
-best shot is to cover your head and to play dead, it gives a chance (not a guarantee) to survive
-in possible, in bear country carry a gun but make sure you give yourself plenty of time to shoot, they rarely go down with one shot, unless you shoot in the lungs (located in that back hump)

Thanks, bears can be found in the Tatras, they are not really in the Beskids.
And I get the feeling although I have heard the same advice as you have just given before, i think in reality I would run and be eaten.

And I would have more fear of humans constantly going around with guns than the slim possibility of a bear being in a 100KM of me.

I was being eaten alive

Had the same experience in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York last weekend. Bukt I did not let them stop me from photographing and picking mushrooms. However, they DID dampen our spirits for skinny-dipping in the mountain lakes.
