Greetings Everyone,

I'll be traveling to Poland this coming December to visit a friend. This will be my third time to Poland but my first winter trip there. I'm just trying to get an idea what the weather is typically like in December so I can pack accordingly. I'll be there during the last week in December. Is it usually very cold/snowy in Poland in December?

Thx

We've had both the coldest and warmest winters in Poland in recent years.

You will have to rely on the long range weather forecast nearer the point of departure.

Whatever the weather. It will be cold.

Thanks for the prompt replies you guys. While I'm not a fan of the cold, I can handle 30 degree weather. Where I live in the US it usually doesn't snow in December. I'll be in Warsaw for my trip. Does Warsaw typically have snowfall in December?

There hasn't been much snow in recent years. Once again, it depends on the day.

Actually, the colder it is, the less snow we get.

When it is around 0 degrees the snowflakes are puffed up and large.

When it is -10 the snowflakes are tight and compact. More like very small hail.

Unless there is a dramatic change in the weather, it's very warm here for the time of year, you won't see much snow in the city.

But wait for a second opinion and ask again closer to the time.

That is an odd statement. I can recall being well and TRULY cold many times last year.

How do you define true cold? Because my friend told me that Warsaw saw many many cold days last year.

Hard to say. It may be +5, it may be -15. The weather has become quite unpredictible during the last few years. Last year, there was practically no winter, but 2 or 3 years ago there was enormous snowfall, and later the were few days with temepratures like -18, -20. But December isn't that cold, I'd be surprised if the temperature fell below -5.

I hope for some true cold (for me: below -15). Trees covered with rime frost in the sun are so beautiful...

In my opinion, you have about 70% chance for weather you want.

OK thanks, so there is a reasonably good chance of having snow around Christmas. great.
