Next month I'll be making my third trip to Poland to see my girlfriend in Warsaw. On my first two trips, we traveled by train to Krakow and the Tatra Mountains in Zakopane. We had an awesome time. We're thinking of going to Wroclaw on this next trip by train. Can someone tell how long the trip is from Warsaw to Wroclaw? Is there a better/faster way to travel there? I wouldn't mind renting a car and driving there. However, I understand that driving in Poland can be hair-raising experience.
I would take the train in this case. About the same time as by car but so much more relaxed. In 1st class you have a pretty comfortable ride... read your paper.... buy a cold Tyskie in the restaurant rail car(they will always sell you that, and yes it is not on the official menu :) ) smile at the pretty girl opposite you.... read your book...
Only madmen would go by car. Or book a plane ticket well in advance, small difference with a IC ticket first class,
By train from Warsaw to Krakow..how is the journey.. how easy or difficult is it to buy train tickets? do we have to buy them beforehand or can we just reach the station and buy them.. and of course.. how much do they cost ..some normal class .. comfortable but not very expensive?
Sorry my friend, could you tell me if there is train which goes to Wroclaw from Warsaw during the night? I am from Spain. And I'll arive to F. Chopin airport on the 5,30 pm, going to Wroclaw. Do you know if there is some train or fly to stay there 19 July on the morning?
Consider also flying instead to Krakow rather than Warsaw. There is a train that connects that Krakow airport with the main train station in Krakow. The train trip from Krakow to Wroclaw is about 4 hours.
If you are set on Warsaw, the PKP schedule shows a train leaving Warsaw Central at 22:50 arriving at 5:21. There is another that leaves at 00.35 arriving at 7:39. This requires a transfer at Katowice; the stop over there is only 14 minutes so this transfer doesn't add much time to the trip. Good luck.
try this site: rozklad-pkp.pl/?q=en/node/143 (4 language versions available, Polish, English, German, French).
On Saturday evening, 18th July 2009, the best trains are, as Lori wrote, 22:50 (the only direct connection) and 0:30 (usually at 0:35, but on Saturdays 5 minutes earlier) prices around 52-54 PLN for 2nd class (the earlier train has also 1st class compartments which cost about 77 PLN), so you'll pay more for a taxi from the airport to the city center (if you're not careful) :(
Btw, try to use one of those "radio-taxi" companies (usually a short, 4 digit phone number, like 5656 or 5912) their prices are much more reasonable
Hello everybody, thanks for your answer. I can not take the intercity because i need to make the trip in the morning and there are only tickets for the afeternoon. I see an EuroCity train that would be ok in the pkp page, but it only shows you the details of the trip, prize, etc but I do not see how to buy the ticket.
