that is quite a big conurbartion, the most dense populated area of poland. Ruda slaska and the other towns around is no the most exciting place to stay, would say one of the worst in the country. You should have mo problems to find a place to stay, check katowice in internet, a kind of capital of the area.

don't do it. that's all i can say, it's near unanimounsly regarded in Sląsk as the ugliest city in the region, and the fact that people say "ugliest in Silesia" tells you that it really is ugly. Don't do it don't do it don't do it. Find somewhere nice, don't go there don't got there don't go there.

Total nonsense and the famous Polish snobbism David.

1. Bring your Mtb - superb cycle paths all around in the forests - this geofraphical area has the greatest number of trees of any area in Poland.

There are great swimming lakes as well close to you in Tarnowskie Gory
2. Industiral architechture very interesting.........
3.Silesians are some of Poland most down to earth and friendly people - when set against Krakowians and the new Warsaw set in particular IMO

4. Great local beer
5. Very pretty ladies if you are available
6. Anybody can add their own pointers here. Such as not too many annoying American tourists - just real people, rich and poor, getting on with things.

That's what Poles say - have you actually gone out on a bike and seen the place? There are some very interesting places if you know where they are :)

Ruda Sląska is a dive, worth avoiding. It has no real barriers from Zabrze, it just rolls together into one huge conurbation.

Still, I'm sure they have progressed to 2-star hotels :)
