Hey, I'm off to Rybnik for 3 weeks at the end of this week. I am concerned with this doctors strike that my friends have told me about. I have a friend who works in a hospital as a physiotherapist but the hospital is being shut down because without the doctors they can't keep it open.

Is there still GPs and does anyone know of a website that has information on the strike?

I think the strike is close to be over. You don't plan to visit hospital on your vacation, do you?

My God you two are being well hard. Obviously he should go but make sure he has the private helicopter nearby at all times to ferry him back to the West at the slightest hint of a cold developing.

What a bunch of ********! It's a simple question asking about information. I'm obviously not cancelling the trip but I at least wanted some information, not a bunch of sarcie comments that are of no use whatsoever.

Article on poisition as at 19 August is here.

The protest action by hospital doctors, now in its 13th week, has been suspended in some institutions, according to the OZZL national union of doctors, and the situation is gradually returning to normal, according to the health ministry.

The OZZL national strike committee will meet next Friday [24 August] to assess the situation and map out further course of action. Hospital nurses will stage a demo in front of parliament buildings when the Sejm meets in August and September.

Come on David, that info is a keystroke or two away on Google.... that's why we were messing about mate cos we get requests like that all the time. Sometimes we can be constructive too.... you just got unlucky.

Hope you enjoy your trip
