Mazurian Lakes pyramid - Help me win a bet....

I am convinced that somewhere in the Mazurian Lakes region there is a pyramid. My friends have accused me of having one Guinness too many but I'm sure I remember reading about it. The drinks are on the loser next week so if you can help me out I'd much appreciate it. I've tried googling without success.

you should also bet that there's a small desert in Poland (near Olkusz, not far from Kraków)

you should win a triple amount of beers, noone is gonna believe we have a desert and pyramids, Poland is no fricking Egypt after all

Ah ha. Good man Krzysztof. I'll keep the desert in hand for the following week. although techncially a desert is defined by the lack of rainfall rather than the nature of the terrain. Still good enough for a beer or two though.

Thanks. You know you've been on PF too long when you can't attribute reading about something to a previous post !

no, technically (or geographically) it's a terrain without vegetation or with low, sparse vegetation covering very low percentage of the area, so I'd say with Pustynia Błędowska you still have a shot at three or four beers at least :)

"A desert is defined simply by the amount of rainfall that falls in an area in conjunction with the amount of evaporation. In essence, its any area that receives on average less than 10 inches of rainfall per year, and where the yearly evaporation is more than 10 inches of rain a year."

So I disagree. But what's a small disagreement on definition among friends when I get beer out of it?

I'll try to come up with equivalent littel known facts for the UK so you can get some beer too.
