Gay bars in Warsaw

Hi - a mate of mine has to spend a bit of time in Warsaw with work. He's been asking me about gay bars and clubs, and whether there was generally much of a scene.

I don't recall seeing any gay bars whenever I've been there - but there has to be a a couple of places to where he and his partner (who will probably pop over to visit at weekends) can hang out without any probs?

Any tips or recommendations of places to go would be appreciated.

There was a gay bar "Mykonos Piano Bar" in Warsaw but they shut it down after gays were beat up and a gay couple shot.

There is "Utopia" bar on Jasna 1 street. Some gays mingle there.

I'll be visiting the first week in March and would like more information, as well. Is there any good gay bars to visit during the week? Not just weekends?

thanks

visit during the week

yeah I think this is really the problem I had with the night life in Warsaw, most of my time I went out during the week, which was week, things might have picked up though you never know

I'm female - if I wanted to find a lesbian bar / club, that's what I'd ask for ;)

Sorry - too late. This was at the end of last year.

Would you describe Warsaw a gay-friendly? I like going to gay bars in London with my gay friends (male), as they're usually good fun, and I love the music. Is there a similar scene in Warsaw?

Warsaw is very gay-unfriendly. There are a couple of decent gay bars (my personal favourite is Lodi Dodi on Wilcza but Rasko on Krochmalna is also pretty good) and one good club (Tomba Tomba in the old town) but that's about it. The best known gay club in Warsaw is Utopia but it's cr@p, full of pillocks and widely known as the "Cretin's Choice".
