For foreigners who use their cards in Poland, does your bank give a better exchange rate or the kantors?

I know what you mean but I would not walk in with a large amount of money and expect to get far down the street, maybe i am just being paranoid.
If you shop around you can get very good competitive rates from some Kontors.

impossible unless your bank is in the business of losing money.

I was commenting to my wife the other day, any half whit criminal could set up a spying spot on many kantors accross the street or from a window. theyd have all the information theyd need in order to mug you down the street, follow you in a car etc.. etc.. I always look over my shoulder after visiting if i changed up a decent amount.
It seems to be the opposite here WB, three Kantors have been followed home, attacked, robbed and killed over the past 3 years. The newpapers seem to hint at Ukrainian gangs staking out their premises.

To our disappointment, sometimes in bank branches yesterday's exchange rate is still shown on the display.

Canadian dollars as other not as wide-spread currencies can be different from the main currencies in kantors - kantors have better rates for main currencies (as well as for Czech and Slovak korons, Danish and Norwegian kroner and East European currencies) than banks
