Can someone tell us where we are able to change the 'aussie dollar' to the zloty before arriving in Krakow. We will be arriving via Frankfurt and was wondering do we change our dollar to the euro , then to the zloty at the airport?? Do you think we may get ripped off? Or is there a better and easier way?

why pay exchange fee twice? Get the Polish currency at your bank, or simply use CC in Poland if you have no "foreign transactions" fee. In that case you will pay the best exchange rate available.

NEVER exchange your money at the airport - if you do, you lose about 5% rightaway. Take your time and go to the bank or "kantor" (currency exchange in Polish) to do it, or exchange it in your country as darius suggests.

Just a thought.
You may need to change a little money to pay for transport from Krakow airport to the centre of Krakow

Two municipal bus services are available every 20-40 minutes. Fare is an equivalent of 0.7 euro or so plus one needs a separate ticket for every piece of luggage in the city buses. Line 208 runs to central Nowy Kleparz. Line 192 connects the Balice airport with Zablocie industrial district via Krakow's central bus station. The same the nightly bus 602 leaving every 50 minutes till 1:30 a.m.

Shuttle train service links Krakow’s John Paul II International Airport in Balice with the Krakow Glowny main rail station in the city centre. On average, trains run every thirty minutes between 4 a.m. and midnight. The 15-kilometre journey lasts about 15 minutes. A single ticket costs an equivalent of roughly 1.5 Euro. One can can purchase tickets on the train.

Taxi stands are situated by the both passenger terminals. Fare for a ride within the city border should not exceed the equivalent of 20 Euro. But be careful they lookout for a good fee!!

all of the guys gave you very good advice.i'd like to add that you might get the best rate in the kantor.it all depends on how much money you want to exchange.if it's a lot (say 15000-20.000aud or more but it could be much less than that) your rate maybe really good.you can't haggle in the bank.they are very unflexible.a few months ago i was selling some british ponds and got 1 to 5.41 rate in the kantor.in the bank the rate was 5.31.

one more thing.you will get the best rate on saturday before 9 am.don't ask me why:)this is what the kantor owner told me.
