Eating (and drinking) out in Warsaw and Krakow

Hello all - first time in here and first time to Poland coming up in July.

Any recommendations for good, traditional (cheapish) restaurants in Warswa/Krakow. Travelling with OH and daughter (12). ALso, what is price of wine like in restaurants? Don't drink beer or vodka but like a drink with my dinner!!!

Also, anywhere decentish near Tamka/Topiel in Warsaw that opens late as arriving late on first day and don't want to spend all night looking for food!

Thanks.

Kate :-)

Your hotel staff should be able to advise.

Some places in Krakow.
I like "Nostalgia" and "Lowcy smakow" at Karmelica Street", you also should try "Chlopskie jadlo" (peasants food), at Jana street. If you drive from Krakow towards Zakopane there is a really good retaurant called "Krakowiaci i Gorale"-it,'s about 15 km from the city boundry, on the left side. Wine in those restaurants isn't expensive.

Here is the link to my favourite restaurant.

Have a good time in Krakow.

In Warsaw - one of the best-kept secrets is Pierogeria in the Old Town. Looks like a typical tourist place, but lotsa natives eat there. Many, many types of pierogis (both classical, boiled and baked) plus fantastic crepes and soups. Just head from the Old Town Square towards Barbakan - the place cannot be missed ;)
