A Polish woman told me that it would cost US$500 one way to hire a driver with a car to take 4 people from Warsaw airport to Elblag. Is this true? We want to go by train, but were told by this lady that it will take too long and cost the same, since we have to pay for 4 persons. Please tell us if this information is true. It sounds very wrong to me. But maybe it will take a long time to get there, and that is why she is telling us we must hire this expensive driver? We travel in 3 days, so we'd appreciate hearing anyone's opinion. Dziekuje bardzo!
Cost of private driver with car from Warsaw airport to Elblag
I wouldn't pay that much. Waaay too much!!! That's over 1000 zl. You can take a train and I don't think it'll be that much.
It's only 239 Km (about 150 mi)

I wonder if the problem may be that we are not arriving by plane to Warsaw until 15:25, and by the time we clear immigration, take a bus to the train station, we won't make a connection to get us to Elblag. But I'm not sure. It's not easy to figure out the trains, since we would have to travel to Malbork or Gdansk and then change to another train. The cost is 100 zloty for a first class ticket from Warsaw to Gdansk, and about another 10-20 zloty from Gdansk to Elblag, but I haven't found connections that seem they'll work. So it seems that train fare for 4 would be about 450 zloty, and the driver is asking for another 550 zloty over that. It seems like that is unreasonable. Any further thoughts?

stay overnight in Warsaw and take the train the next day, so you will be traveling during the day.
Another option is to rent a car yourself and drive if you feel comfortable with that idea. It really depends how long you are planning to stay in Poland.
or, bargain to lower the price
Have you checked rozklad.pkp.pl/bin/query.exe/en. maybe you can search a different route. She's really asking too much IMO. I'd wait for someone in the area to respond for more tips. Good luck.
^ there is a reasonable afternoon train connection from Warszawa to Elblag it seems.
The usual asking price for cab from Szczecin to Berlin (130 km ) is 350-400 pln and bus ticket there would cost 50 pln.
Warszawa - Elblag distance 240 km

Price and availability of taxi from Malbork to Elblag late on Sunday nite
Czesc!
We will be arriving in Malbork around 23:45 on a Sunday night by train from Warszawa. We need to get to Elblag that night. Do you know if there are taxis at the train station so late on a Sunday night? Would a taxi driver drive us all the way to Elblag? What do you think a fair price for this trip would be. We are 2 persons.
Dziekuje for your help.

I don't know when you're planning to arrive so I don't know if you've already bought your train tickets. I travel second class because it's about half the price and there isn't any difference between the two. Just make sure you get a reserved seat.
I can't answer your questions about taxi drivers, but there are usually cabs available until the wee hours and then some. Find a regulated cab with a meter as some without them will charge significantly higher prices.
