Hi,

I am going to krakow in november. Its from 3 nights and i am trying to work out the best way to travel. Best meaning cost effective, lol.

I have the journey as 395 miles one way. So I also have to work out petrol costs

If I take train it would have to be an overnight train which i hear is around 250zl for two people.

Anyone done this lately? What do you suggest?

Hi Griff, do your self a favour and take the train,

A) Less stressful, more comfortable ,you can walk about, have a drink etc, no worries about crashing your car on the horrific drive that is 3 city to krakow, or getting it stolen, as well as where to be parked for 3 days in krakow, along with the price of parking it here in krakow as well.. which anywhere near the centre is definately not free, as well as if its dumped for 3 days there is a good chance your wing mirror will be ripped off!, and after having 3 of them torn off or smashed certainly isnt funny.

all in all a journey that long isnt funny doing it in Poland, and I have done many thousands of Km here. & driving over 250kms I feel is never truely enjoyable here. for the many reasons i aint got the time to type! lol

Train is the way to go!

During the summer we drove from Kraków to Hel in 10 hours. We covered 710 kilometers. The average fuel consumption was 12 litres of autogas per 100. The cost of it - about 200 zlotys.

In another thread you are asking about parking sites. So, finally you have decided to drive to Krakow, haven`t you? Why? :):):)

Mmmm, well. I had to wait till payday to book the tickets for the train. But all the sleepers were taken when we wanted to go. It would be cheaper to take the train and take normal seats. But I actually like driving, plus i think it will give us a little more fredom when we are there. We go for 5 days to krakow and now sure if there is 5 days worth of stuff to do. If i have the car, it will give me a few more options.

What do you think?
