Bedzin

I'll be staying in Bedzin at the Hotel Cumulus for 4 days for a wedding, other than nursing a hangover is there anything to do in Bedzin itself? It doesn't come up on a forum search here, neither does the Hotel Cumulus. I've been sent a link to their website, but it doesn't have any English and my Polish is limited to 5 words (yes, no, thank you, please and enough - that's for the vodka pourer at the wedding!).

We are moving to Krakow on day 5 for 3 days and have tours organised for Wawel Castle, the Jewish area and the salt mine.

I am going to try out the Polish rail system to get from Bedzin to Auschwitz (the day I'm not hung over!) as, looking at the rail website, regular trains seem to go between the 2 towns and Bedzin seems to actually be closer than Krakow to it.

Suggestions for any other sight-seeing places close to, or in, Bedzin would be greatly appreciated - thanks! :)

Hey, umm I was wondering.. Although I've been to Poland with my school, there is something I couldn't find out and that keeps bothering me. What is the Polish population's attitude to Jews and to the Jewish Communities all over Poland today (I guess there aren't that much communities)?

There are many people in Poland "Jewish enough for Adolf" but hardly any real Jews, even these few people active in Jewish organizations are rather only "of Jewish orgin", so hard to say about any attitude to them as they are completely assimilated. Generally attitude to Jews is... well, I won't be cheating... It's mixed.

Wow, nearly 2.5 years later a response comes. Będzin has a nice castle, that was the highlight of my short stay there.
