Last Day Of School in Poland

Last day of school for the young folk.

I accompanied PF poster Mrs Robinson on her last day of term, today. This is an important day for pupils and the school. Regular school uniform is not worn. All pupils must wear a white shirt or blouse and black trousers or skirt. The teachers also make themselves more presentable than normal.

Parents stand at the back of the class, pupils sit in their seats and the teacher stands at the front. When everyone is settled the teacher gives a speech and then hands out certificates and prizes. When the teacher calls a pupil to the front of class to receive their school report the pupil then hands over a flower, usually a rose. All the pupils receive at least one book, some end up with three or four.

Photographs are taken by those who have cameras. And at the very end the teacher is given a large bouquet, which is usually paid for by the parents.

I always take my camera. In result, I don`t know where to keep all those photos.

You forgot to mention there`s a lot of cheek kissing. Here are pics from the last day of school for the third form in April.

This is so true.

I also forgot to mention that in some families they may have children in different schools. This can mean that Grandmother is press ganged into helping out. I have children in three different schools, so it sometimes means a lot of running about.

sounds like a really nice event for the children leaving school they dont have anything like that in schools here only those that are in the final year of primary school which is Year 6 (ages 11 going on 12) its called graduation ceremony as they are heading up to secondary school etc and into Year 7 .. the next event like this is when you are 15/16 years old finished your GCSEs and have an end of year Prom same happens when you are in the sixth form (ages 16-18)

other than that no other year groups have a day whereby there efforts and achievements etc are recognised ... !
