Entering college in Poland.

In two years I will be (hopefully) entering college. I've set my sights on the University of Aberdeen, in scotland. I've talked to my parents about my decision but so they say they wont allow me to study abroad... unless I do so in Poland. I am somewhat disappointed with their decision but I'll consider it nonetheless..

So I was wondering, if any of you might know of colleges in poland? do they have courses in english? I'm fluent in polish but I don't speak as well as people who have lived there their whole lives.

They have courses in English. The Jagellonian University in Krakow is a good example. Many students from USA go there.

Copernicus and John Paul II are one of many famous graduates of that university, so maybe it’s worth taking a risk and applying?

There is no money in psychology.

okay so I've gotten a lot of that from people and I really don't feel like arguing with anyone; i've done my research, I know that different subfields of psychology have different salaries, some high and some not as much.

and yes, psychiatry is especially a well-paying job if you're successful. I might go into psychiatry, as i said I'm really not sure what i'm gonna do in the future.

i'm not really thinking about salaries right now anyway. i don't think the salary will be most important to me if i'll love what i'm doing.

first i have to concentrate on getting into college. so keep naming good ones for me you guys, hehe.

With a Bachelor's Degree in psychology, you will be able to get a job driving a taxi,
with a Master's or Ph.D. degree you will get a decent job. :)

There is a big difference between psychiatry and psychology, between a psychiatrist and a psychologist.
One is a medical degree, the other is a social science degree.

Yes i know but psychiatry pays better money then psychology and in the end your helping people with their problems except one is giving out medication and the other one is not..!!!

I am also interested! Although my Polish is that of a 2 year old. lol
I am in the USA and working on a degree in English with a concetration on Folklore, my goal is to come to Poland and other Slavic countries to learn about the old folklore - stories - myths. Now you have to remember, I am not a kid (51) and I work full time, so this is not easy for me. Then add a language difference and sometimes I get so frustrated.

Lots of people ask me why, but if we do not preserve the past it will be gone forever.

I am learning alot from this forum, it just seems at times that you have people on it who are more interested in putting people down, then understand people ask questions to learn.

I attend DePaul University in Chicago and I will be studying abroad in Poland next fall. I know that through my University here you study at Jagiellonian University in Kraków. You take classes in English besides one Polish language class. The Polish language class varies based on language experience, for example: a student who knows no Polish would take an introductory course, but someone who can speak Polish well would take a course like Polish Literature or something (in Polish).

I'm thinking of starting some threads about that when I'm going to have some extra free time, but I wasn’t sure if people that visit this site are interested in this subject. Now after seeing that there is a person who actually cares I certainly will do it. I think that I will start with vampires.

Pozdrawiam.

If you have decided on your subject...then be determined. There will be critiques...but that is a part of life. If you can move ahead with confidence...you will make more than money. Good luck to you :)
