No 14 11 Dec 2007 / #1I ask this question because i am looking to buy a apartment in Gdansk next year & i would like to know.
BubbaWoo 33 | 3503 11 Dec 2007 / #2Do most Polish people rent their homes or do they have a mortgage???more and more people are buying
Wroclaw 44 | 5359 11 Dec 2007 / #3Do most Polish people rent their homesI think so. That would be council rent not private.Where possible people buy...usually with a big loan.
andy b 4 | 156 14 Dec 2007 / #6A 50m2 1-bedroom apartment is pretty much the most popular size for a Polish apartment and should rent easily...depending, of course, on all the usual factors (condition, location etc).According to a recent report from szybko.pl, a Polish property portal, the average rent in Gdansk for a one-bedroom apartment in the third quarter of 2007 is 1439 zloty, up 34% since the start of 2006
NO 14 15 Dec 2007 / #7Thanks "andy b2, are you English?Do you live in Gdansk?I think its great how many people help with all sorts of different things here :)
beckski 12 | 1609 15 Dec 2007 / #8Do most Polish people rent their homes or do they have a mortgage???This Polish girl is buying her own home (in the United States.) It's one of the best investments I've ever made. There's no way in the world I'd waste money, by renting a home.
NO 14 4 | 44 15 Dec 2007 / #9Yes i know its a total waste of money to rent, but some people have to for various reasons. For me its a good way to make a little more money & a good investment for the future.
telefonitika 15 Dec 2007 / #10For me its a good way to make a little more moneyLikewise i will be doing the same renting for the short term whilst building up funds to secure a property in a purchase :)
andy b 4 | 156 16 Dec 2007 / #11Hi No 14, in response to your question, I am Australian and have lived in Krakow for 4.5 years. I do work in property here, but not in Gdansk. I too still rent in Krakow, but hopefully only for another year. Two years ago, together with some friends, I bought a loft in Krakow. We have been stuck in planning and neighbour disputes since buying it, but now looking likely that we will be able to build in spring 2008, so fingers crossed I will soon be living in my own apartment in Krakow soon!
