I took this train sometimes and the whole route between Katowice and Ostrava seemed to me rather dangerous because it is new speed eurocity train running in old rails. So sometimes it had to be slow, then fast, turn abrupt etc.It often had delay.

Seems like from early reports that the train hit the scaffolding that was holding up the bridge that was being repaired at the time, which brought the bridge down on the train whilst it was moving.

I've seen some news footage. The bridge seems to have fallen onto the train. Only one carriage seemed to be damaged. The rest of the carriages remained upright and on the tracks. The figures for injured and dead seem to be coming down.

It doesn't look to me as though the train was travelling at high speed.

EU has to give money to make comfortable wide bridges for trains.

It's unfortunate that this was a new bridge.

Evening news: 7 dead (1 Pole), about 70 injured. Most of the victims are Czechs.
The bridge (viaduct) was from the 60's. It was under re-construction (or repair), but according to the Czech railways, the company that was carrying the works didn't inform the railways of this :(
