The Maluch Car

Does anyone here drive a maluch? I want to get one so i can pimp it out a bit. They may be crappy cars but the sentimental value of the maluch is something that every Pole can enjoy. I have seen some fiats here in aus that look exactly like the maluch, which is also a fiat. They are as cheap as chips here.

Come on....we gotta have some maluch lovers on here!!!!

I drive a VW Bug, air cooled just like the Maluch. I live in NY, but when I visited Poland I saw that little Fiat (126p I think) and thought to myself that it is the VW of Poland!!! Millions of them made... good cheap transport. I know the guys in the VW club would get a kick out of that car. I wish I could get one here in the States, especially for 400zl !!!!

You people should also think about safety. Driving in Maluch you won't survive any serious accident.

The maluch wonderfull little car , i want one...only thing that puts me off is the fact that colliding with anything bigger than a bycycle whilst driving one is rather dodgy......

My mother had a Fiat 126 many years ago. We called it the motorised rollerskate.
It is possible that wearing one rollerskate on a busy road is just as safe.

I brought a VW Bug into the US a few years ago. Not an easy thing to do. While researching I think I came across a law that said someone immigrating to the US is allowed to bring one car. They can only do this once. So even if the car doesn't meet Federal Safety Laws, or emissions, you might be able to bring you Maluch... I think??? Back when I was in college (1989 yikes) someone had a brand new Citreon, the little one that kind of looks like a VW bug. Thinking back, that person must have immigrated into the US and taken advantage of the law I'm thinking of.

So, if you do get one of those little ones into the US and you are anywhere near NY, we must meet, and you must take me for a ride in it. I'll bring the VW :-)

Good Luck

Oh, yeah... last night I went to see a movie with a friend from Poland. We were talking about the Maluch and the BMW we were in. She said that in Poland they refer to the BMW as Bardzo Maluch W???? I forgot what the W was used for. Anyone here know?

Its good as a recreational vehicle, and that's it. No one drove them because they were cool, but because it was all that was affordable. They are uncomfortable unless you are shorter than 165cm, and in accidents they have no safety value whatsoever so if you have a death wish it will be a good car for you. I would use it to get me around the campsite and to go get beer at the corner shop, but that is about it.

I'd take you up on it but I do doubt my little rollerskate on wheels may not make it farther than a trip to the local ice cream shop ; )

I do understand the accident issue and I come from a small town. This would be the perfect car to drive to the beach, ice cream or in a parade! Or, just to see in my driveway!

Wildrover, I suppose it takes two with some gymnastics skills. If the ceiling fan is a fantasy, maluch should be be quite comfortable, perhaps more comfortable than a motorcycle. :)

This is a funny image, but I also read that 13 people can fit in it (some kind of student challenge), so what's the big deal with only two naked people?

so what's the big deal with only two naked people?

It can,t be that easy..or somebody would have confessed to having done it...perhaps nobody wants to admit to owning a Maluch

Not anymore, Maluch is sooooo 70's and maybe 80's. I hardly seen any on the road last spring. Do you pass them on the road when you ride your bike?

Yes there are lots still on the road in the villages and small towns in my area....
