A Pole should be silent when people talk about warring!
:)
We took the whole world on...and this world needed 6 years to beat us!
We can still be proud....what does Poland have to show besides being the playground for the grown ups?
You took the world on only because the west helped you to regain strength after the WWI. Actually regaining your strength after WWII also happened because the help from the west. Poland never experienced such a generous aid... Well not until 1 may 2004. :)
As for the second part of your post check the names of:
Stanisław Żółkiewski (1547 - 1620)he won major military victories against Russia, Sweden, the Ottoman Empire and Tatars. My favorite performance made by him is Battle of Klushino, where 6 000 Poles under his command defeated 40 000 Russian army.
Jan Karol Chodkiewicz (ca.1560- September 24, 1621)Famous Polish-Lithuanian military commander. My favorite performance made by him will have to be battle of Chocim in 1621 where 40 000 Poles and Cossacks under his command managed to defend the fortress from 100 000 - 150 000 Turks. (some sources say abut 200 000 Turks)
Stanisław Koniecpolski (1590/1594[1] - 11 March 1646)Battle of Martynow, where 25 000 poles won over 60 000 Tatars.
Jan III Sobieski (17 August 1629 - 17 June 1696)The "Lion of Lehistan." Most famous for the battle of Vienna 1683 - 70 000 Holy League soldiers against almost 140 000 Turks.
ok, it's late and there are still many brilliant polish military strategist like Czarniecki, Zamoyski, Dunin, Boleslaw The Brave, Boleslaw Krzywousty, etc... Check them out and then we can talk, because for the current moment you don't seem to know what you are talking about. :)
