Does speed dating exist in Poland?

I'm curious about this phenomenon. It has caught on quite fiercely in Ireland.

The idea is for people who are more reserved and less extroverted, yet still prefer not to be alone, to engage in romantic activity.

If you're going to have a very poor mastery of the language, but would still like to have some romance, it would seem like such a thing, as well as dating agencies (not brothels, by the way!) would be a good way to go.

I have a friend that has done this several times, I personally think its a bit silly how on earth are you meant to form an opinion of a person in 2 minutes

i researched this market quote thouroughly about 18 months ago - it was introduced in warsaw a few years back but didnt really catch on - since then, polish online 'dating' sites have become much more popular so perhaps the market would be more receptive now

I think you're not expected to form any deep opinion beyond simple first impressions. But the first impressions are the most important. Without a good first impression, a happy relationship is unlikely to form, in many cases.

Hmmm, not sure about that I have met people and thought, oh what an awful person but have got to know them and they are actually quite nice and on the flip side I have met people and they have seemed to be very nice and have turned out to be complete asses so....any thats just me, but I dont know anyone that has actually had a relationship with someone through speed dating, its a social thing and I know people who go just for a laugh....for the entertainment value of it :))

I know a fair few couples who met by being set up by third parties like friends, family or speed dating/dating agencies.

I don't know about that....I'm with Shelley in that I have not had such favorable impressions of people and come to find out they are wonderful people.....goes the otherway around also.

I agree. If most people who met a Polish girl and decide in a few moments to spend the rest of their lives with them they have the rest of their lives to regret their impulsive decisions at leisure. Have you ever seen how unhappy a henpecked man looks in public. Take my advice and marry first. Then meet a Polish girl and get married. After a couple of months you can simply walk away from the marriage as it was adulterate from the start!

I expect it was a joke. In bad taste but a joke.
