PYTA ANYONE?

Anyone familiar with the good old-fashion Polish pyta -- a kind of cat-o-nine-tails? I don't think it necessarily had to have 9 leather strands.
Unlike today's "political correctness" with its absolute ban on corporal punishment, this was used as needed so as not to raise kids that turn out like today's selfish, molly-coddled brats. Ever hear of it or feel its well-deserved sting on your hide? Any comments?

My dad gave me every now and then a good spanking on my bottom with a belt, but I don't know if this counts?

Like chemical castration?

I am personally responsible for keeping the wooden spoon industry afloat in the early to late 1970's. With a little help from mom, that is.

My mom is Jewish, and her father's family, just like quite a lot of ppl of her mother's family got gassed in Auschwitz and Treblinka. They didn't kill just Poles in Auschwitz, you know :) But you could say in a cynical way that my family moved to Poland yes. But I am Dutch, born and raised. I currently don't have family in Poland, at least not that I'm aware of. Or it must be that one of the PL chickadees I slept with got pregnant and didn't tell me and moved back to PL. But that is a quite shady territory in which I currently don't want to go.

So you might understand now that I have a little bit of trouble with some of the anti-semitic crap that is being thrown on this forum at times? I saw some documentary the other day about Hitler and the mentality in Germany in the 1930's and I actually recognized some of the arguments the ppl back then threw in against the Jews from what some disturbed minds here on this forum post at times. I think that's very frightening.

Hm, it's time I come over to Southern California and give you that spanking you're obviously asking for.

:)

How in the world did this thread get mischannelled into a Jewish direction? I'm sure some Jews give their kids an occasional loving whack when they deserve it, whilst others do not -- same as anyone else. I wouldn't be the least surprised if in a discussion on the virtues of different brands of orange juice, someone mentioned that made with oranges from Haifa, and Haifa is in Israel, and Israel means Jews and Jews means Auschwitz....???

What are you on about? Derek asked me if I was living in or had relations in PL, so I explained him. That's all. Don't be afraid, your non-issue is fully respected. So stop moaning at the very first post that is a bit skewed from the original topic. It's not like were having a full fledged Jewish conversation here. Just one question and one answer and then she comes and immediately starts whining. And what are you talking about anyway? Are you a bit confused, miss?
