Women in Poland dyeing hair red

What's up with all the red hair on women in Poland? When I visited there, it seemed to be quite popular to dye hair red - everything from Bozo the clown orange to bright red to a purple red. It seemed like this was mostly with middle aged women. Is this some sort of fad?

In the past red hair was a fashion for many teens and those in older age groups.

It has never gone away completely.

It's strange that you bring up this thread..... because only today I got the idea that the colour was coming back into fashion.

I've seen less of it recently but they still do it. It's their choice but sometimes they look like prize twats!!

Not quite my choice of words. Some of them do look ridiculous though.

A Polish person trying to look a fair bit different is a recipe for disaster :) The proof is in the pubes :)

a few years ago dying your hair pink was in, some people still do it over there. as for red, it can be really nice if the colour is not too bright, but then it doesn't suit everybody. red highlights in dark hair can be really nice.

It would be, if the Brazilian wasn't also a fashion. (so i've heard) :)

I know that my Polish boyfriend and his Polish father both love red heads. /shrug. I'm blonde, thanks to my Swedish side of the family. Did red once...but didn't have as much fun! LOL.

I noticed quite a few people getting chestnut tints on their hair recently in the area that I stay....that's a type of deep red isn;'t it ?

Must be the latest fashion, wonder if I should try it LOL......

Yes, a lot of Slavic women (not only Polish) seem to love red hair or a variety of tint of red. As mentioned above from chestnut to fiery red. I myself like a hint of red in my hair. It gives a nice healthy shine... but really, really red...no.

Every time I see a woman on the street of Chicago or a suburb and she has a red hair I know, she is from Europe (whatever country). American women don't color their hair red even though there are so many hair coloring products on the market.

I don't like it on older women trying to cover the gray with red...it comes looking orange..eeek. but many younger girls (women) can look quite stunning.

I thought dyeing hair black was more popular. IMO this colour does fit most girls - especially the pasty white ones. Too much of a contrast.

This fits a particular fashion type and age group.

Red hair covers a wider age group and comes in a number of shades.

Jet black hair seems to make blue eyes sparkle.

As said earlier here, it's mostly middle-aged/older women that dye their hair red. I haven't seen so many young Polish girls/woman do that.

Doesn't mean American men wouldn't like it - I know at least one who absolutely loved my scarlet tresses, as they were at the time, especially with the green eyes. LOL.

they look like prize twats

I went to Germany once when my hair was Redvolution red, and everybody was staring and drooling, so apparently not 'twat color'

What can you know about fashion anyways, where you come from everybody wears the same style. 1984 is already there!

I call it Eastern European red - many years ago on my first visit to Czech Rep I couldn't believe how many woman who had this brassy coloured hair, I just guessed that was the only colour they could get ;0)

that's a type of deep red isn;'t it ?

Chestnust is more a brown with a hint of auburn (generally hard for people to actually colour their hair this colour as it never turns out, it only looks nice when it's natural)

I wouldn't know that in depth as I have never coloured all my hair, have always had highlights , but I understood that chestnut was red brown. But I'll take your word for it Shelley :)

Eastern European red

Do you think Jonathan Ross's wife had her hair coloured that red you refer too ?

I remember years ago a friend of mine dying her hair red - it was supposed be a lovely shade, only problem was it had amnonia in it and it stipped her hair and lightened it, she ended up looking like an arangatang - had to drive to tesco at 11pm and buy a dark brown dye to cover it! obviously when I had stopped laughing enough to be able to drive safely!

About five yhears ago, multicoloured highlights were big here. So many women in Warsaw were doing it that it got a bit silly and went out of fashion fast. You can still see it though, in places like Targówek or Stegny.

Which color do you think is most popular in Poland? Red, blonde, or maybe just highlights?

i was in Poland 2 weeks ago, loads of fake blondes still, but also loads of girls with highlights - home made, clashing, not nice... i can always tell Polish girls from other girls here in UK just by their hair.
