I am going to the baptism of my new godson in Gdansk this weekend. I was hoping that someone might suggest traditonal baptisim gifts in Poland(I am American) that would be given by godparents. Any help would be appreciated.

The babys name is Krzesimir btw.

It would be a nice gesture and I probably will do that. I was really hoping to ingratiate myself with the grandparents who would wish a more "traditional" (polish) godmother had been chosen. I am very proud of my polish heritage and would like to do something more in keeping with the culture.

Ideas needed for gift for baptism of baby girl in Poland

Dzien dobry,

I have a Polish friend here in the States whose son and daughter in law had a baby girl in September. She is being baptized in December. My friend is going to Poland for the event. I would like to send a gift along for the baby. What is customary?

Shortly after the baby was born, I mailed baby clothes and a lullaby CD.

What does one give for a christening?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Karinka

Polish godmothers often give the baby a tiny gold cross on a chain.
