I've used orange (on my UK mobile) and it's been fine. I guess if you're going to be spending a long time there, then you might want to pick up a Polish SIM card.

i have a chance to add another phone on to my contract phone with t-mobile for £15 this would allow shared min and unlimitted free calls between the phone owners-this would certainly be a huge saving on the phone calls my boyfriend and i are making to his payg phone-just wondering if anyone has experience of t-mobile in poland-i know orange ofer the same deal but i have a years contract with t-mobile

T-Mobile don't exist in Poland (the Polish network currently owned by the people who own T-Mobile is currently the subject of a court case to decide who does own it).

You should read the small print of your £15 offer very very carefully. I would imagine that the free calls can not be made when you are outside the UK or to a number which is outside the UK. Remember that when your boyfriend is in Poland and you call his UK mobile phone he is charged for receiving that call!

true but i was able to use my T-Mobile phone there on the ERA network which was the best network to be on .. on the T-Mobile uk website you do get a list of about four polish mobile network you can use with T-Mobile ...

... i had no problems on the ERA network when i was in Poland

You are charged on that connection 40pence per SMS 20 pence per MMS 38pence to make a call to the UK and 19pence to receive a call ..... but the other party will have to pay part the connection cost of roaming ... so if they on a PAYG phone will chew their credit in effect ...

I WILL STRESS that your free monthly allowances is not useable in POLAND and you will be charged those prices above ....

if you want this option of using your free allowances you have in the uk then your best bet is to go on a vodafone contract as they are only ones that allow currently you to use your free allowances abroad

:)

You keep shoving good money after bad. Add a phone to your contract. Boy friend isn't going to pay you back. Was that his idea?

Wait until you see the bills for numbers that aren't yours.

i have never had any issues connecting to phones in Poland ...

sorry your call cannot be connected then you get the beep beep beep sound as if the phone is engaged

if getting this message ... it generally means the person you are contacting has switched his/her phone off

need to top up my polish card i am calling from england on a bristish network- this is plus gsm

if you have a PAYG (pay as you go) sim whether it is polish or british and the credit is low then you will get a message stating to "top up"

(i did used to work for a uk based mobile phone company so i generally know whats what)

The first thing i did when i moved to Wrocław is get hold of an era PAYG sim.... and to be honest.... i am very impressed. In the uk, on vodafone for example, you have the area info (well, the area code of where you are eg. 01637) but Era tells me exactly what street I am on, and always changes. My credit seems to have lasted forever, and i am genrally extremely happy with the polish mobile networks. Although, i broke my charger and need to get another one :(

my t-mobile picked up on era

thats one of the networks t-mobile is attached to there and is the strongest when you check the t-mobile site for compatibility :)

O2 and orange should not have been a problem as both these for me worked also in Poland and found networks O2 found a different network to the T-mobile contract phone of mine (the orange and o2 sims were PAYG's) one of which was mine and other my daughters

Simple, We have an O2 payg card in the Uk, this givesfree calls to O2. Then our friends in Poland have O2, Free calls :-)

The calls might be free to you but your friends will be paying a fair whack to receive calls because they will be roaming when they use an O2 card in Poland. It'd most certainly be cheaper to just use Polish simcards.
