A great book. If any of you have read any of his books or know his style then you are aware how he weaves real history into a novel. Poland is no different. It starts about the time that Poland was breaking loose of the Soviet grip and then takes 3 families back well over a thousand years (if I remember) and brigs it all back to the current time (as of the time the book was written.) It will give you a great sense of what Poland went through, the Church, the politics, the social structure and more. An easy way to get some history on Poland. It was an eye opener for me..

I read this book years ago and was amused of how important Poland was to keep the Muslims from conquering Europe and also the Ottomans

the Polish cavalry as described in the book must of been a sight

I want to reread it. It has been a while. I loaned the book out and never got it back. I went and got another and then loaned it out. Never got that one back either. We Poles are just not fast learners I guess. :)
