I am a Nigerian. My girl freind is a german. We have both decided to marry in Poland. I have heard alot about Poland. She was once in Poland. What are the requiment for marriage in Poland and what is the procedure. How do one go about it?
MARRIAGE IN POLAND bride and groom not Polish.
Good point. I have an apparently simpler matter but it's proving to be otherwise. The official website says that, if I marry in Poland, the original marriage certificate is only deposited in the UK and not registered as a marriage. What kind of crap is that? That implies that my wife-to-be is not recognised in the UK and it also states that we have to formally apply for the marriage to be registered. Surely there should be instant recognition rather than just 'dumping' the original marriage certificate in my local Registrar's office in Scotland?
What kind of nonsense is Britain pulling here?

Obviously someone in power doesn't want you back in Seanus;)
I know that the arrangement you mentionwas no applied to my friend who married an Italian girl in Italy. Is this another case of the A8 being treated differently?

Possibly, my mate married a Greek guy in Greece, she didn't have to do anything regarding her marriage cert when they came back here to live...
Nah, it's OK now, I called Warsaw and they were helpful. I checked and the website content was naff.
The next obstacle is getting an authenticated birth certificate but I have found the correct website and it appears to be straightforward.
A caveat to any would-be married couple, don't give the local Registrar where you are getting married your original Birth Certificate. The woman in Warsaw told me that that'd be a fatal mistake as they don't return it to you. Hence, the procedure for the authenticated version.
