I'm thinking of buying a macbook in Poland. Since September 28th, I'll begin to live in Warsaw. I'd better be aware of the prices of macbooks. For sure it depends on model of the computer. However, right off the top of my head, how much would they cost?

The botom of the range new mac book retails for 5899 PLN. generally more expensive here. the old versions white or black were on special offer last time i checked till they sell out for just under 4000 PLN.

Wow- That's $400 to $500 more than the US, I wonder why? White Macbook in US is $949 (2700 PLN) and the aluminum is $1094 (3100 PLN) (prices obtained from MacMall.com).

Quite a price premium!

I guess it's like vodka. Vodka is cheaper in where they're produced than other countries. Such as Poland, Russia, etc.

Just had a better look at the Polish Apple site i cant find prices any where, on the UK version its easy they pop up all over the place and youre looking at £899 for a Mac Book Pro (aluminium case) or 4100 PLN as apposed to 5899 in Poland madness.

I sent them an email. Let's see what they'll give me. However, if I can afford the cost, I think I'll buy the one costing 4100 pln.

No, that means that theyre the Polish equivalent of 4100 PLN in Britian. The old white and black mac books should be 3899, in Poland if theyre still in stock and if my memory serves me correctly.

Well certainly the 22% VAT is part of that.

When I was shopping for a MacBook last year, I found the best price in Saturn--somewhat lower that in MediaMarkt (apparently owned by the same company) and less than from the Apple dealer. It's worth shopping around. Allegro is another source, as often Poles returning from the US bring along new MacBooks to sell at a profit.

As was in Gdansk, it was known that Saturn's prices were quite high. Maybe it is, but for the macbook, however it's a bit surprising that you found the best price there.
