Not in PL. It is a unique place in certain aspects.

Paid public toilets that aren't clean or supplied with the tools to do the job.

Napkins in restaurants that don't survive picking up from the holder.

Restaurants that expect a 20 Zloty fee for each table reserved, and that fee isn't applied against the tab.

Pathetic toilet paper with a fragrance.

No decent coffee to go.

Not enough cup holders in cars.
Generally I enjoyed my time there though.

This tosser of a censor keeps deleting my posts! So much for freedom of speech. So I can spout off-topic crap and chit-chat, but I can't give honest opinions. What a waste of time this forum is!

Hi Shawn.
Well if those were the only problems, I would love this country. My hatred runs much deeper. I deeply dislike the Poles here. They've been utterly ruined by 50 years of communism, so that they never smile... in public at least.

Why on earth would I want to do that? Getting late here in PL. Must to bed anyways.

Get to know them, go to their homes. They will open their hearts to you, feed you, get you drunk and smile. They are really great people.

Hey Grzegorz, that's a really meaningful thought. Thanks for that. It has really enriched my life.

Have you really got nothing better to do on a Sunday night? Perhaps some computer games, or some porn...

Individually yes. As a whole, as a social phenomenon, it's a bloody day-mare (as opposed to a nightmare, cos it never stops.)
I go shopping into Warsaw, see the utter social devastation, and just want to slit my wrists. I hate this place so much...

So say thank you and spierdalaj.

Thank you so much Grzegorz. Thank you.

Girlfriend, cats, flat, jobs, etc. Not so easy to move when it costs 200,000 GB pounds just to house my collection of priceless Polish beer mats...

Do I get a prize? Will you actually make a sentient comment if I do?

Who are you anyway, and what can you add to this daft conversation?

it's amazing, the things going on in the u.k. are the same things people have been arguing about in the u.s. for decades! probably in most if not all civilized nations. personally i don't want to mop floors or clean toilets so if some immigrant wants to, then let them. they're not 'stealing' that job from me! they make their money here and then bring it back to their country to support their family. if life is that bad where they come from i can't really blame them for doing that,

and you can't really blame the poles for being depressed or not smiling. there is no government to support people anymore. the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer! capitalism, ain't it great?

majority of unskilled jobs are being swallowed up by mostly Polish migrants

Immigrants taking unskilled jobs has been going on for years with every ethnic group for hundreds of years. Speaking of US history....the Brits came to the US, brought over lower class Brits to work for them, then they brought over Poles, Germans, Italians, etc. (all unskilled) to build homes, work on the farms, tailors, etc. This is evolution.

In the US in the 1800's, there were immigrants who were on the bottom of the barrel; Italians were considered pond scum, they were replaced by Germans (which brought the Italians up a notch), Germans were replaced by Poles (which brought the Germans up a notch), Portuguese, Asians, etc.

Right now in the US, the Mexican workers (I'll only speak of the legal ones now, not the 12 million illegals), they are doing grunt jobs (unskilled jobs). These unskilled jobs are the same unskilled jobs that our forefathers did 100 years ago.

Britain, Ireland, Scotland, etc. need to get over this discrimination against a whole culture of people. They've never had to face immigration. Welcome to the real world English speaking countries........After 10 years of immigration issues, they can't handle themselves....the US has been dealing with multi-cultural immigration since 1610!

Why'd you edit it Miranda....I had a response....

Your question was along the lines of "and how well does that work for you?"

We deal with it. With over 301 million Americans (not counting the 12 million illegals who are here), we deal with it very well. We coexist with every nationality on the globe. Our neighbors are from anther land, our coworkers are from another land. We exist together. Our nation is built on a variety of nationalities.

We don't know our neighbors religion, ethnic background. We know they are decent people and we live beside them.

Sure there are the occasional news stories of race issues, but with over 301 million people, a handful is not bad.

We do just fine as a melting pot of every culture, race, religion, etc. The only ones I fear are the radical Muslims.

Really? you'll find you're wrong on that one... ever visited Brick Lane in London?

Never been to London. Is Brick Lane filled with immigrants dating back hundreds of years?

I did because I didn't want to get into a disscussion on US immingration issues and simply because I don't agree with your point of view:)

........After 10 years of immigration issues, they can't handle themselves.

I think we have immigration for slightly longer than 10 years. The difference now is the sheer scale of the recent influx. The impact is upon our health services, our schools and our transport infrastructure mainly. We are a small island and conservative estimates put the increase in immigrants in the last 10 years at over 6 million or 10% of our population.

Szarlotka, I can understand how immigration would hinder the healthcare, etc. But it's the countries responsibility to keep up with the demand. If these workers are 'invited' by these countries to come and work there legally, then it's the governments responsibility to provide.

My concern on the issue is the hating of a race of people, who are in these countries legally, working, earning a living. Obviously there is a need for the unskilled laborers, or the Poles wouldn't be there. Am I wrong?

I hate those who refuse to learn about people before they make generalizations.

I can second that!!

And quite right you are too. I would contend that the majority of British people have nothing against our new Polish migrants who tend to work hard, pay their taxes and not demand changes to our laws, culture and way of life. Yes there are idiots who blame the Polish but like you said earlier you will always get them. As for your point about expanding services to cater for invited migrants you have to recognise the lead time in doing this is long and it comes against services that had been underfunded for too long anyway. The real tragedy here is not the numbers of immigrants from the expanded EU but the numbers of economic mgrants from the rest of the world whose immigration should have bene controlled far tighter than it has been. Don't forget the UK and Irelenad were the only EU members that gave the chance for A8 countries' citizesn to come here realtively unhindered.
