Technically, I believe you're allowed under some EU regulation or another.

But the UK immigration authorities are a law unto themselves - and I don't believe for a minute that they'll let you in without a hell of a fight, especially considering some of their attitudes towards their own.

you are joking right, they let and Abdul, Ski and Vic in these days. They will be fighting to get him in let alone stop him from entering!!!!.

i need to go to scotland ...

you NEED to go to Scotland, so you just don't WANT to you NEED to. There is a big difference in the two words, when you say 'i need' it is like a necessity on the other hand when you say 'i want' it is something you desire. I'm sure you have no reason for you to NEED to go to Scotland, in fact i'll bet your bottom dollar in reality its a WANT.

my card

Do you mean passport?? as you will require one of these to enter the UK, in fact you would need it to enter any country, unless your coming in the back of a lorry of course.

do i need visa to go there ??

as for whether or not you would be allowed, i assume that as you have been married to a Polish citizen and working in Poland for more than a year, you would qualify as being able to enter the UK.

no Mr Cool, it's all the UK. I would have thought that being married to an EU citizen and with an EU residence card, you would have no problem for a visit, I don't think you need a passport, why not do some research online?

Sorry, you need a tourist visa. It takes 4 days to process. It is valid for a varying time period. 6 months is the normal one.

you will need a visa, having residency means nothing, you are not a Polish citizen, you may even be refused that, things are really tightening up...

I don,t have passport.

You have a nigerian passport, which isnt going to get you into Britain without a visa (we have many nationalities in Britain who are only residents, they are not subjects i.e. they dont have the same rights of as those who are so called citizens), even if your wife is Polish...

I was surprised because many people who get married to Polish citizens need visa to UK because United Kingdom is not among the Schengen countries. They only accept European Union passport not Polish residence card. Please I want to know if in Scotland they have their own regulations or they apply the same law as UK regarding visa.

They apply the same law, we are not an independent country, yet!! You need documentation.

You are welcome, mr cool. It's good to have a bona fide Nigerian who is interested in actual procedures and not scams.

Good luck!

Whats the big problem, you just need to get a visa, by the way, its very strict these days they take a photo and your finger prints to ensure you are not on any crime d/base anywhere in the world.

As I have already stated, anyone can be a resident (they are just there temporarliy or biding their time for citizenship) in a country, why should they have the same rights as a citizen? Yeah it was a smart move that we didnt enter into the Schegen zone :0)

Better get down the embassy for your visa ;0)

This is actually a source for the definitive word on the matter.

The moral of the story is that the UK is yet again completely uncompliant with an EU directive.

To the original poster - avoid the UK as long as they're not complying with the relevant EU directive. It's simply not worth the hassle!

You shouldn't, but sadly, the UK seems to be putting up barriers where there shouldn't be any. The politics are neither here nor there - the fact is that they are obliged to facilitate free access to people like yourself, who are then forced to jump through needless hoops.

You're good for any of the Schengen countries though - but best practice is to make sure that you take a *lot* of supporting documentation including copies of the relevant directive, just in case you're stopped.

But..but. You've been living in Poland for three years - have you been married for those three years? If so, aren't you now entitled to citizenship?

No we live for 3years now but been marred for 2years and 9days now, citizenship is not my problem.I can only collect citizenship only if they allow me to have my Nigeria passport and polish passport.I,m happy to be a Nigeria so passport can never change me for anything.all i need is to work hard and keep my family moving. If you don,t stand for something you may even lose it all.what must be must be.

ONE LOVE NIGERIA ONE LOVE POLAND

And if people didn't over stay visas there wouldnt be a problem, moral of the story is if foreigners break the laws then we will change the laws :0)

Shouldn't be a problem, Poland requires you to be Polish when in Poland, but doesn't care less about what you are otherwise.

There isn't a problem though - the UK is required to implement access under the relevant directive, and is instead choosing to tie people up in endless red tape. It's the same nonsense that makes Russian/Belarussian visas so ridiculously expensive for us.
