$12/pack in Canada where i'm from

unhealthy pockets too then?? Not sure what $12 canadian translates to, but cigarettes are over £5 per pack Uk, which is about $10 USA? and about 25 PLN!

If I didn't care about my health when I smoked, I was very worried about my wealth. When you start to worry about BOTH ... time to quit!

You can't even go to club/pub in Poland because all of them are full of smoke... I'm an asthmatic so it's just literally killing me. But smokers don't care. Why should they care about my lungs condition when they don't care about their? lol.

so fckd up country I really really really hope that someday somebody will drop really big bomb here, because 80% of ppl here don't deserve to life.

smoking and drinking go together.. get over it..

as for smokers dont care, im a former smoker and yes I do care, I would smoke out
side, and I also know that the companies selling these ciggs to people dont care
because its all about money and keeping the smokers hooked.. and they do add
chemicals that make it harder for people to quit, its easy to pick them up but
really dam hard to put them down.. I give anyone alot of credit for each time they try
to stop.. it isnt easy.. blame isnt always the smoker.

and you live there too? ha ha.. your messed up.. it must be lack of oxygen to your
brain from the asthma because any normal person wouldnt say such a thing..
shame on you.

Then don't go. I'm sick and tired of people telling me what to do. If you don't smoke it's your choice and you should definitely stay away. Smoking is bad but drinking is good, you f***ing hypocrite.

So does your love for freedom extend to those who wish to breath the air without choking? or is it only to your desire to smoke?

And Pati...just because smoking and drinking go together for you doesn't mean they do for all. I know loads of people who say they love to drink without smelling the cig stink.

If you’re so concerned about your health you should not drink either.

Me too! It's selfish to do anything else.

If you’re so concerned about your health you should not drink either

"Red red wine, you make me feel so fine!" And what's more...it's good for you! Good for the blood and good for the heart. Even the Bible says "A little wine is good for the stomach"!

Drinking (in moderation) is NOT bad for you, and makes you feel good. Smoking, in contrast, is NEVER good for you , even if you are able to keep it in moderation, and it does nothing to enhance your mood other than kill that addicts craving for nicotine, which the cigarettes themselves have created.

Oh and the sexy guy in that picture would be just as sexy if you removed the fag dangling from his mouth....and he would remain sexy for years longer than if he continues to smoke (and gets wrinkly and ashen faced and barrel chested and hacks his lungs up 3 times a sentence, and, God forbid...becomes impotent from smoking!)

I can see a cultural difference when we're talking about smoking tobacco.
In many countries today smoking is passé, old fashion, not cool, it stinks, and it’s not socially acceptable.

Smoking has become sort of like passing gas or digging your nose in public; it's repulsive and gross and some people will let you know about it.

When you smoke you have to go outside, you have to hide, you need to take a mint after because you stink, if you smoke in your car and have a baby with you- you can actually get a ticket, not to mention the stares you’ll get from people for smoking next to a child.

United States and Canada, Australia, NZ, Western Europe is changing and becoming just like California, where it all started. Eastern Europe is a little behind, you can see it here, but don't be fooled, change is on the way.

Like it or not, this is the way of the future.

Joo who is right, 2 drinks a night are good for you.

So you have a soft spot for red wine, its ok with me. I myself have a soft spot for beer. Hypocrites like that always complain about something. What's pissing me off is that people play on sympathy these days. (I have asthma, I have allergies etc) seems like it’s very fashionable. Well if he’s so sick he probably takes a lot of medications for his condition so he should not drink at all period. He wants to kill himself combining the two, that’s his business and he should stay out of my. He should avoid a place of temptation, so I guess that rules out the local pub, problem solved. Point is everyone has a soft spot of some sorts. (But I do it in moderation), well 2 packs a day is moderation for me so bugger off. Change is coming, it sure is because p****s like you let it.

OK So I lost my temper

OK So I lost my temper

Hmmm? Perhaps you should add a little weed to your 40 fags??
If I confess to being a hypocrite, does that mean I still AM a hypocrite?? Either way...I confess to one and all, that my biggest guilt trip is rooted in the fact that I smoked through 2 pregnancies and with 2 babies in my arms! As a result my daughter had bronchitis as a baby, and my son had glue ear. I quit smoking around others when I realised the damage I was doing to them. So, please don't try to tell me that smoking around anybody is cool. It's just not....Fortunately, today there is far more education, awareness and pressure for smokers to keep their toxic fumes to themselves, so they do not have to feel as guilty in the future as I do today!

That’s one thing I will never do. All I need is another habit, cigarettes are enough for me. Perhaps you have not noticed but this has nothing to do with respect for others. Plain and simple, this is about lecturing and showing others how PC one is. When we have a social at a friends house I always step outside for a cigarette even if it’s -20 outside. (That’s respect for the host, besides it gives me a perfect excuse to leave the conversation when it’s too boring). I’m sure that when you have a party at your house people respect you and step outside for a cigarette. When I join a friendly poker game and everyone smokes cigars, I do not lecture them (although I hate it, ironic being a smoker myself). That’s because it’s expected, at least within my circle of friends and it’s my choice whether I join the game. Having some manners, enough common sense and knowing how to apply it to the situation ones is in, is one thing but talking about it just because it seems to be trendy these days is another. This is the hypocrisy. Don’t you realize that people are well aware of the health hazard they face by smoking? Constant nagging on the part of the opponents just shows the bad manners on their part. Most of the times they just talk about the issue just so they are perceived as cool by their friends without being honest with themselves.

I’m sure that when you have a party at your house

The only parties I ever had in my house were birthday parties for the under 10's! None of them stepped outside for a smoke I hope! RESPECT!

supposedly smoking at the bus and trams stops is illegal here in Warsaw but the ashtrays are right there. I personally dont like the smell of tobacco especially with all the crap they put in there but I just move away from those stinky people. As far as clubs I just dont go but I probably wouldnt go anyway but I did go to Dobra Karma and most everbody went outside to smoke so ya might want to try that place in Kolo, Wola

just to update this topic I heard on the radio that as of Sept 1st it will be illegal to smoke at bus and tram stops and it will bring a 500 zl fine. Any chance of this actually being enforced? Fair enough about clubs and pubs you choose to be there but bus and tram stops? What can you do?

It's currently illegal to smoke in a certain style of bus shelter here as it comes under "enclosed spaces" but I have yet to hear of anyone actually being fined for smoking in one (which people more certainly do).

Here we have Environment Wardens - will they be having something similar in Poland?

Why does Poland not ban smoking in the workplace. When I couldn't smoke in the pub anymore I gave them up. No regrets.

Theoretically smoking in public in Poland is forbidden, but fines depend on the city you are. For example in £ódz even city wardens smoke on bus stops, on the other hand in Rzeszów it is common to get ticket (quite high ticket) for something like that.

Why does Poland not ban smoking in the workplace. When I couldn't smoke in the pub anymore I gave them up. No regrets.

Well in some companies it is forbidden and in others you are prised for not doing it for example you got additional 100PLN

Sorry for my English I'm still learning.

but why would you even go out with a smoker if you hate it so much? When I didnt smoke I would never have dated a smoker. Once I did and then I started smoking myself, now we are both trying to give up.

What resources are there for someone in Poland who wants to quit smoking? Where do I go for help?

Thread attached on merging:
Is smoking banned in public places in Poland?

I really really hate smoking in public places (bars, restaurants, hotels etc.). I dont smoke myself, so I finde it really annoying to come home from a night out and stink like an 3days old sigarett becouse of the clouds of smoke in clubs/bars.

Sinces Poland is a member of the EU, has there been any talk about banning smoking in public places (if it is not banned allready?).

Here in Noreway smoking in public has been banned for a few years now, and most people (even smokers) think its a good thing. As a (hopefully) future doctor I recomend everyone to stop smoking ;)

I was waiting for the bus last night and I noticed these two workers putting up notices on the bus stop which prohibited smoking in that area. lets see if it works. 500 zl fine as well.

I am not a smoker but I heard acupuncture is a great remedy. Shouldnt be too hard to find someone here to do it for you.
