- The kids here learn a lot about ancient Greek history and Mythology - when I went to szko 2;a podstawowa (junior-school) we`ve studied Greek history for about 1/2 years - and then in higschool we had ancient Greek history for about 1/2 or so as well - though then we had more history classes and everything had been covered in more detail. Beside that - at least in my higschooltimes - we had a lot discussions about Ancient Greek poetry during the Polish classes. On many universiteis here philosophy is a cumpulsatory study for all students.. so if you`re asking what Poles think about Greece and Greek people then I guess that most will say:
- we know a lot about your ancient history. :)
- many Poles are probably see Greece as a great place to spend their holidays.
But, beside that, I don`t think that most average people here know too much about your country.
iam english and i have found the greeks to be very welcoming
I like Greek food. I've heard Greeks aren't very hospitable for foreigners though...
i go there nearly every year for my hols ,they are lovely people and so generous and kind ,so if you do get the chance to go to greece i would highly recommend it .
i've met quite some on my way. very polite people, stubborn like hell (I take is as a quality),
Greece is beautifull, except for The Athens which looks like a huge garbage can.
the crappy thing is when you're in Greece for holidays there's low chance to find a public beach. everything is bought for housing together with the beaches so everything is private (at least that's the case in Patras), it's s bit annoying when you're there and want to go to swim or whatever.
nevermind though, people are great and make up for those little things.
Yes they are nice, because you pay for that. I have Greek roots (sure this is the best country in the world ), but i have worked there. Was not so nice like when I`m coming there for vacations to visit my family. Maybe the reason is how to be perfect in their business, like everywhere. Sometimes was very bad sometimes I was very happy, but I have great friends there, which I do not have in Poland, and general that country is my motherland :)
Greece is beautiful also I am proud of this country.
Greece would be the best country in the world if there were not the endemic stupidity of our people. They are so capable and stupid at the same time,it is unbelievable.
Some common characteristics:No organization, leaving everything for the last minute(you see students studying vigorously even one minute before taking the exam),the most common word is tomorrow.
Improvization, doing everything trying to bypass the law or contrary to the law,''captain style'',byzantine-like conspirations, strong individualism, trying to fool the other, balkan slyness but primitivity in comparison to italian con-artists.
We even fooled the EU lots of times and some of our tricks are phenomenal. National hero is Nick the Greek, typical Greek loving gumble.Everyone here wants to gumble and make easy money out of nothing. Many high risky behaviours but at the end everyone blames the government.
How to become european while being able to cheat the europeans. This is somehow the greek mentality.
No organization and procrastination? You should talk to my two cousins whom are more Greek than I am and attend Ivy League schools...
And everyone fools the EU, give me a break. The Russians, British, and French have mastered it into an art. That doesn't make us less European as you claim....
