What to use: Marcin vs. Martin

Martini

Hey,

I have been born in poland and the name given to me was Marcin. Moved to Canada when I was nine and was called Martin in elementary and highs chool. In university I switched back to Marcin. I find people have trouble pronouncing my name, or some find it funny to change it into Martian, Marcy or some other perversion. It just gets annoying. I think it may be easier for people to recognize and remember Martin, rather then the uncommon Marcin. What you guys think?

I know a guy who came from poland, his name is Błażej. They call him Blaze
I know Rafal, they call him Rafael
Wiesław - is called Wiselaw.
On the other hand.........
I know a Marek. He changed it to Mark.
I know a Ryszard, he changed it to Richard.
So, you can keep the Polish spelling and:
a.) have your name misspronounced
b). Teach others how to pronounce it correctly
c.) You can stand out with a foreign name
d). You can feel cool that your name is different

I would keep the Polish spellings if you have deep roots in Poland and are proud of your heritage. Who cares what others think. Nowadays there are so many made-up names in USA that one more different spelling won't make a difference.

I have a friend who's son's name is Skylor. I know a girl whose name is Skylor. A friends son's name is Dayton.I know an Aiden..

ooops, fell asleep in front of the computer. Lost my thought. Good-night!

I lynched a guy for mispronouncing my name. The others learned quickly to say it right.
