How do you pronounce Babcia and Dziadzia? Can someone spell it out phonetically please? Me and my husband are about to become grandparents and we do not want to be called grandma and grandpa. Since my husband's family is Polish I was researching Polish names for grandparents.

I think this is close,

Babcia bab-chya
Dziadzia jya-dek = dziadek grandfather

You don't know what you're asking for...

OK, phonetic spelling:
babcia ['bapt͡ɕ a]
dziadek ['d͡ʑadɛk]

Dzidzia is something used by 2-year-olds who can't pronounce words correctly. It's not a 'real' Polish word. It's is pronounced: ['d͡ʑad͡ʑa]

sorry, I misspelled. I meant dziadzia - something to say when you can't pronounce dziadek.

How do you pronounce Babcia and Dziadzia?

Our family pronounces these words "bopcha" and "zsa zsa" or "gha gha."
