Even if I agree with this, the fact remains that the Poles of today, where death, degradation and terror are not the order of the day, exhibit similar behaviors, and, mind you, not the poor peasants but obviously individuals with some education. If politicians are legally allowed to Jew-bait and accuse opponents of having Jewish roots even if they're not Jewish, what does that say about the Polish political and social culture and mindset. It's like saying, "Don't vote for Walesa or Kwasniewski because they are Antichrists. The ultimate irony is that neither of these gentlemen appear to have Jewish origins. It seems to me that you are trying too hard to relativize and excuse things that bear no relativization just because you happen to be of Polish extraction. I, as a Jew, have no qualms about condemning any criminal actions or bigotry by individual Jews or the Israeli government. The basis of modern society is the individual (not a member of a tribe), who bears full responsibility for his actions. That's an American and cosmopolitan concept, which is still alien to many Europeans, whose thinking is controlled by the notions of nation, blood, the sacred native ground, and similar atavisms.


I'm not aware that anyone has quibbled about the ethnicity of the dead. The Russians lost a couple of million in the Nazi camps, the Poles lost even more - that's not the issue here at all, and that's what's so infuritaing about debates like this - not understanding or pretending not to understand the difference between the causes of Jewish deaths and those of others. There was no Final Solution for the Russians and the Poles. They were allowed to survive as nations but only as slaves for the Aryan nation. The total extermination of Jews was one of the underpinnings of the Nazi state ideology and was the natural outcome of hundreds of years of official blaming of the Jews for all the ills of the world. It is not surprising then that so many were the 'willing executioners' and that so many today are still negative or ambivalent about Jews.

What I'm arguing for is not less sympathy for the dead Poles or Russians but more understanding and sympathy for the dead Jews and more condemnation of the causes of their perishment, as tall an order as that may appear.


Context is not everything. What your paragraph implies is that somehow individual or collective victims of the Holocaust may have deserved their fate. I can't ask my father what the context was because he is dead, but I think it would've been scurrilous to do so. No matter how imperfect some individual Jews may have been that perished as part of the Final Solution, none of them deserved what happened to them. This was concluded at the Nuremberg Trials and confirmed by countless scholarly works by Jews and non-Jews since. It is a closed chapter for most civilized, well-meaning individuals except for those who are still on the wrong side of history.

I don't get the hypocrisy part. The 1st statement is a statement of fact. If you have expert information to contradict it, go ahead. The second is an inference based on fact. You may disagree with it or say it's an invalid inference, but that's quite different from hypocrisy.

I totally agree with your 1st sentence, but something tells me that it's not perfectly sincere. As to the 2nd, these lists are not meant to show Jewish domination but the fact that most famous Jews have achieved their fame based on merit and talent. There are very few fields where they totally dominate, like in chess. In most other fields thay are simply represented disproportionately to their population, just like blacks are in sports or Orientals in IQ tests.

1. Even though Jews might be overrepresented in the business world proportionate to their numbers, they're still a small minority in comparison to the business and politics movers and shakers of Anglo, Scottish, Irish, German,, French, Dutch, and other European descent. To say otherwise is not to know the facts and/or parrot age-old prejudices. Anyone who agrees with Hitler, Goering, Goebbels, Mussolini, Stalin, Bin Laden, and other heavyweights of evil needs to have their head and soul examined.

It's interesting that those who accuse Jews of controlling the world never bring up their disproportionate numbers in those fields where merit and talent are incontrovertible and where they cannot be faked or promoted by Jewish protectionism - as in sciences, literature, music, technology, visual arts, architecture, chess, and yes, even sports. In the coming posts, I'll submit to you some of those names. Without even recognizing it, your lives have been enriched or made easier in many ways through the contributions of those people.

2. Very few Jews are orthodox in their interpretation of sacred texts. Those that are orthodox don't participate in public life. Very few Jews consider themselves separate from humanity. On the contrary, they are fully and willingly assimilated in most countries of the world, intermarry with non-Jews and participate fully in public life. A native French, American, German, or Czech Jew is almost indistinguishible from the other natives in his/her appearance, outlook, or behavior. If some of them possess certain Semitic physical characteristics, these could pass for southern Italian, Armenian, Spanish, or Arabic features. But, as someone said, if you forget that you're Jewish, there'll always be someone to brutally remind you of it.

As for the charge of Jews being a chosen people, crucial to the Jewish notion of chosenness is that it creates obligations exclusive to Jews, while non-Jews receive from God other covenants and other responsibilities. Generally, it does not entail exclusive rewards for Jews. It says nowhere in those texts that Jews should be overlords above everyone else. Kabballah is a book of mystical teachings that deal with the ideas of creation and concepts of a spiritual nature, but it has never been in the mainstream of Judaism and is read and observed by very few Jews.

3. You offer no facts or illustration here. What names and historical facts have been changed? In what way do Jews define themselves as they see fit? Jewishness is an ethnic and religious designation. I'm ethnically Jewish, but I'm not religious. If I converted to Catholicism, I'd still be ethnically Jewish. On the other hand, you don't have to be ethnically Jewish, but you can convert to Judaism, which would make you religiously but not ethnically Jewish. It's as simple as that, and it's always been like that - no changes or problems with self-identity at all.

The rabbis are changing names and history, crave domination and power? Are you for real? Obviously, you've never met a rabbi in your life and have no idea what they do and how modest their lives are. If I were to apply your paranoid logic, I would have more substance to accuse the Vatican of world domination, with its centralized power structure, vast material resources, and global outreach. There is The World Jewish Congress, but to compare it to the Vatican is to compare Lichtenstein to the Roman Empire.

As to Jewish leaders victimizing their own people and non-Jews by domination cravings and worshipping money and power - there you go again. You've swallowed the propaganda of Hitler, Himmler, Goering. Goebbels, Streicher, and all of their other henchmen hook, line, and sinker. We all know what the verdict of that ideology was at the Nuremberg Trials. And we all know what the verdict was at another, recent, trial of David Irving, another Jew-hater and history revisionist. Are those your heroes and role models? If so, I repeat my suggestion from before. Paranoia can be controlled with medication these days.
