Sorry, which accent do you speak with? The queens accent? cos if so, you arent worth your salt as any pro polish teacher will speak it better. From what you are saying, You mean to neglect the whole need for a native speaker. For what reason are native speakers used? If not to teach, then why?

Top English is a school that has adapted this method in their own way.

I teach callan as follows; Introduce new material straight from the book. All questions in revision are my own, made to fit the level of student. Grammar work i do as my own on seperate lesson when i come to it. Seems to work ;)

Teaching should never be based on accent, if a student only has lessons with one standard accent, then they will never be able to understand anything anyone says in any English speaking country. If a student is only taught by a teacher with a BBC accent, then that student is doomed when it comes to trying to understand English. Point and fact is, i hired alot of Polish care workers who had passed their FC exams, but within one week wanted to go home cos they never understood a word that was being said to them.

To teach with only one standard accent, which Harry is talking about, is to leave the student with no understanding of how the language works, and how it varies.

I think everybody is getting it wrong, teaching English is not the same as teaching linguistic skills. End of point.

I get paid more because i have a strong Scottish accent, but i can switch to the BBC accent when i need to.

Most students leave the city and go back home. Hardly anyone goes to any pubs or clubs around easter. So really only tourists are in the city. Quiet time of year in Kraków bar the drunken Brits and Irish.

I had to hire folk from Poland back in Scotland to work in hospital (Glasgow) within a week almost all would be asking for a transfer down south. Like that would help. This is where a native speaker should be used. To make students used to the accent, and even better, know what they're talking about when it comes to grammar.

Let them stick to their dated books, but this shit is being taught at the highest level, masters english ect. I mean come on, they will be understood by us, but they wont ever understand us.

What racism? U know it as much as me. They are taught Queens English, which no one speaks. Do you hear that in London or Manchester? cos if you do, i doubt you use ur ears. One of the main difficulties for students is that they are taught with this BBC accent, they understand English great, but once they get there, they don't understand a thing. Again on the racism thing mate, pin point where in Englisnd they speak like this?

You should use the accent you are born with, that's one of the main reasons you get paid as a native speaker, not to speak the BBC english which is spoken no where.

I had my family over last year, and they visited the school i worked at. They fell on their knees laughing at what Polish English speakers spoke like:D

The average wage for a newbie teacher is about 1800-2000. With average rents for a flat going at about 1500. So yeah, pricey

I wouldn't rely on private lessons to keep your head above water, its taken me 4 years to build up my portfolio. Maybe some pub work to fill in the gap to you find something.

Depends which one he will be going to, MAK is divided into 2 different companies. Though now i'm interested to know what Wysp was talking about.
