Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

simple answer please

Settle down...

Firstly Poland gve you the education, you have a obligation to return something in return.

What would happen to poland if all people living in poland packed there bags and decided to work overseas to make better money...(The current lack of doctors is one such example)

also, polish people pumping money back into the system dosn't help the average person living in Poland, quite the reverse, it causes a divisions between the haves and the haves not and in effect causes a class struggle..This type of money coming in tends to increase the price of goods and certainly real estate, which dosn't help the vast majority of polish people.

Why I return to Poland, sure, been there 10 times, well I believe in Poland and the Polsih people, I might add that poles have suffered a lot, especially the war and the terrible times under the communist system, I just feel that capitalism (american style) is no better than the communist system, at least under communism people had a job and had some income support, but under capitalism, who cares if you can speak your mind if you haven't a job etc.

If I am critcial in my comments, it dosn't mean one is anti polish, quite the reverse, there are more millionaires in poland today but more poles find the struggle harder today.

The poles were conned into entry into the E.U, under the guise that money will be given to poland to improve roads etc, remember you get nothing for nothing in this life and someone will benefit in the E U, but it will be very few poles only

Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

Personally I would love to live in Poland beautiful place.

I get sick and tired of people of people throwing out these one liners, I would love to live in Poland or Poland is the best place on earth it may well be, why don't you practice what you preach.

Most poles living overseas (not you) after a belly load of grog become very sentimental and patriotic, when they sober up they have nothing good to say about Poland.

I take off my hat for those who have remained in Poland in good times and bad times buidling up Poland, those leaving to work overseas have not been fair to there fellow country men and add insult to injury when they return home with a bucket load of dollars.

This may offend the Indiangirl and the funny man from China but that is the truth.

I'm sure Wujek would be the first to leave Poland if he had the opportunity including going to Estonia

Today a drivers license is enough to "have the opportunity" to leave Poland. No special "visas" are required so don't see a problem here.

A drivers licence dosn't bring the "bacon home or is the icing on the cake" secure working condtions might.

Life / Are Polish People Racist? [1037]

Quoting: Guest
taught to be very prejudiced by the Church and by the fact that Poland was always invaded and badly treated by other countries.

It seems to be the new fashion for poles to blame the Catholic Church for everything wrong with Poland

found some of those who wrote there extremly racist....and still i have no idea why?

one of them wrote..."I must agree with rafik, english people (aussies even better) are very good people, loyal and ready to help, and not rip somebody off, unfortunatelly england is full of indians/pakis/ turks and they give the whole country a bad name."...

sorry but SOME polish people are really racist

With respect, because one makes a critical comment about a nationality he is branded as a racist..IVONA get a lifeand some residence of certain countries develope a bad reputation.

As for Australia or US being better... whatever way you look at it there will be arguments there. I think the US has a lot of bad laws, but so does Australia. I dont agree in getting paid to sit around and watch TV like so many Australians get away with. And the people who REALLY need help have a hard time to get this Australian government money

Indianpolishgirl you should hold your head up in shame, you have been the quest of many countries and all you can do is to criticize and put the boots into people who have welcomed you. You like so many other false pretenders on this forum, miss and say Poland is the best place on earth (it may well be) well for gods sake, pack up and return there as soon as possible.

The truth is that like the 1 million over poles who are working overseas, Poland cannot provide the economic security as other countries can provide.

A bit of advice to you...stop talking bull***

Life / Why do Poles drink so much? [161]

excessive consumption of alcohol problem and drug abuse is a problem in every country, in australia, I'm quite sure the poms have there problems too, from my observations it is pretty bad in poland....also have you noticed almost everone smokes in poland whereas in western countries the smoking population is decreasing.

One thing I have noticed on this forum is any criticism of poland brings a swift response from the likes of this bloke wujek.
This is a discussion site and everyone can share his opinion

I was only joking, there is nothing wrong with having a beer of two, however I still believe that poles drink to excess and thats unfortuanate.

Further the price of alcohol compared to wages is very expensive.
You must be a desperate in buying polish cigarettes, as a ex smoker polish cigarettes are rubbish and do not compare to known western brands

Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

This is a complete nonsense, you have no idea about the real estate market in Warsaw/Kraków...

Thanks for the compliment? I haven't come down in the last shower, I don't doubt real estate has gone up in these two cities ( I must make a point by saying that Krakow is one of the best cities in the world, Warsaw (apart from Old town and ul Nowy Swiat) is a very ugly city. Prices of homes and apartments in both these cities is becoming out of the reach of many people living in Poland today. It is as I mentioned before heading in a unknown direction (it may increase/stablise or bottom out) time will tell:

The blue chip (best properties) have been bought out by the old communist guard, and overseas interest, And it is of no comfort to say poles have been robbed by multi national companies who shareholders are cigar smoking business people who operate from New York.

Every country where the United States has commerical interest it makes a lot of money, the United States never helps amy country unless its gets something back in return, it never defends another country unless it is in there strategic interest.

IThe changes in real estate has opened the doors to the banks, and now most average home buyers will be forced to take out a loan and be at the mercy of the banks.

I might add that the same process has taken place here (where the average loan is about $A250000

Reading your posts I have feeling that you are l a little ?- uncomfortable, jelaus about people buying property in Poland. I think it is good investment and prices will grow especially in places like Krakow, Warsaw , Gdansk. It is again location, location

I would only wish all poles could return back home and purchase a property, that is not the question, the way people are talking in this forum, I wonder why any homes are being sold in Poland (as people should wait a few months and could double there money)

Lets all be clear that sought after properties in a good location will always fetch a good price and this means not all properties have hit the jackpot.

Krakow is a beautiful place and investment in that place will bring many rewards,
You unfortuately (fortunately for You) are married to a guy from UK, its a pretty big ask for him to resettle in poland.

News / The Breakdown of the Polish Health System [14]

Please wujek, I do not throw abuse at you, I may be a moron but god made me that way,

I just asked a simple question.. what is the cost of private health insurance in poland?

Life / Why do Poles drink so much? [161]

nothing wrong with drinking (I'm on my 10th beer now) ha ha it becomes a question of affordability and health risk.

Doctors tell us that that having 2 standard drinks per day ie 2 glasses of wine or beer is the maximun you should have, binge drinking refers to 10 or more standard drinks in one session.

As we all know having two drinks would'nt even touch the sides and I doubt any pole would stop at having only two drinks.

Although alcohol and drug abuse is rife in all western countries accessibility is a big issue, In Australia alcohol is cheap (in relation to wages) and is not limited to beer and spirits, wine is very, very popular and cheap.

Alcohol is not expensive to produce, it is what government tqke out in tax duty.

The price of alcohol came down in poland because of national cry out, as governments tried to cash in on drinkers, undoubtedly when thinks get better in poland so then will the government put up alcohol taxes.

The price of cigarettes in poland shoud be doubled, half going to hospitals to care for patients suffering from smoking relating diseases.. This is the case in Austalia.

Thanks for your comments and attachments rafic, I would love to meet you and all others on this forum (including wujek) over a glass of beer and vodka.

From my information drug and alcohol abuse in country poland is cronic at the moment, which is leading to increase assaults and robberies

News / The Breakdown of the Polish Health System [14]

With respect wujek the current health system in poland is tragic, I believe polish doctors are highly qualified and are second to nothing in the world, the current system is much to be desired of, the current system demands that patients in a hospital supply there own sheets and blankets, food, bandages and pay bribes is not good, also the cramped conditions in hospitals is unacceptable.

If polish doctors were to earn more in poland, who would cover the costs?

the sad facts are that poland wants to be identifed as a western type system but are unable to produce the goods in effectively providing similar services as provided by other westen countries.

What is the cost of private health insurance in poland please?

Law / Polish companies *think* they are smart... [29]

if a foreigner ran out of petrol in australia and asked you to sell him some i am sure you would charge him twice it cost at the petrol station.it is a human nature-sad but true.i am sure it is going on in EVERY country

With due respect rafik and I respect what you say on these formums, can I say if a person ran out of petrol and was broken down the average aussie would assist. provide petrol, and charge him for nothing, that is the truth. (others on this forum may wish to question this) further he would say it was a pleasure to help.

Australians have a different mentality and are always ready to chip in for a person in need.
I believe the older generation pole has similiar values.

Law / Polish companies *think* they are smart... [29]

Poland has two set of prices, one for locals and one for foreigners, this should not occur in any country, however beware if you tell somebody you are from overseas if buying real estate, the price rocketers immediately.

Poles have been brought up in this mentality ie motels charged one price for a polish national and one for a tourist.
I must add that comments by Hanke are disappearing quickly and people are becoming more informed and smarter

I must agree with rafik, english people (aussies even better) are very good people, loyal and ready to help, and not rip somebody off, unfortunatelly england is full of indians/pakis/ turks and they give the whole country a bad name.

Both countries have its good sides and like all things people settle down where they best feel at home.

Shelley with your attitute you are only a free loader, spitting on england and using it for a financial gain, If you don't like living there go back to Poland, sorry but that is the truth.

I am quite sure many a polish person who have worked in england and now living in poland has very good memories of time in that country, (ask any pole who has worked in germany/italy and hear there horror stories)

I'm sorry, I hope wujek is not listening, but if a country accepts you and looks after you, you don't through shit at it. the english have always had a great respect for poles, especially the polish soldier and the previous pope

Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

I hear what you are saying, I've been to poland many times, I know there are many rich people in poland with very nice homes, but most people live on a week to week basis and cannot afford the better things of life, can I ask you a few questions,

What are the current interest rates in poland and what is the average loan taken out when purchasing a house.
Like I mentioned before, properties in the country all over the world grow very slowly.

If a person were to purchase a property for 400000zl, how much could he borrow?

Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

Thanks for your reponse rafik, can I just ask if properties continue to rise what polish worker will even be able to consider buying a property.

From my experience polish people who come here (australia) for short periods want to stay here because they get used to the easy way of living... I might add that poles here have a very good name and fit in very well.

One thing here is that we have award wages and conditions, and employers must contribute to a compulsory supperanuation scheme, it has also attractive welfare payments for the sick and unemployed... the only reason australia is a rich country is that it has rich natural resources, primary production and tourism.

In poland today (I think I am right here) wages and conditons are at the discretion of the employer and no rights of appeal.. I heard that supermarket staff are not allowed time to go to the toilet (?)

If real estate goes up, and as you say wages go up, what happens to the plight of people on welfare payments ie aged pensioners and unemployed...The polish government is currently working in the red (where will it get its money from)

The people cashing in the current real estqte are big businessess, speculators, and overseas interest, all I might add at the expensive of the pole.

Real Estate / Poland Property...should I be scared [127]

Location, Location, location is the key to any real estate purchases, if you buy in the right location you will never go wrong.
I make the point that real estate in poland is a baby and is heading in an unknown direction, it may go up, it may stabilise, it may bottom out... there is a cycle in real estate growth and it depends what is the flavour of the month for investors and investment funds, at the moment here shares seem to be the flavour of the months.

It is unknown (I think) if the poilish government will introduce capital gains tax which will put a damper on this type of iinvestment.

I stress and make the following point again, It does not help the average pole when real estate goes thru the roof as it puts them out of the property market.

Years ago poles would purchase a block of land and build when funds were available and were relative debt free. now to access real estate they will have to borrow money and be at the mercy of the banks.

Interest rates are pretty low at the moment but they too rise, and I recall a time when interest rates here were 13%
How much can a average worker borrow and still maintain a good lifestyle. The big change will be poles will be living in homes owned by the banks whereas previously they were self owned.

Increase health and petrol prices do not help the situation.

It is good to discuss all angles to a arguement... it is good to have a devils advocate:)

Most people who leave Poland for a considerable amount of time rarely return to live pernamently in poland.
