Language / Dopóki - Dopóki nie - Dopóty (EXAMPLES) [5]

There are two situations when you use 'dopóki':
1. In the meaning of 'until' (sth lasts until sth else happens) - then you usually add 'nie'.

Poczekam tutaj, dopóki moja siostra nie wróci.
I'll wait here until my sister is back.

2. Meaning 'as long as'

Dopóki walczysz, jesteś zwycięzcą.
As long as you fight, you're a winner.

Of course it's possible to rewrite the above sentence:
Dopóki się nie poddasz, jesteś zwycięzcą.
Until you surrender, you're a winner.

The word 'dopóty' means more or less the same, but can be used only with 'dopóki' in the same sentence. The structure is: dopóki-condition-dopóty-action

Kamil gave a good example :)
