Food / Polish poppy seed cake question / Makowiec or Makówki [8]

Hi
I bought what sounds to be a similar cake at Laramie Bakery in Chicago. My mom, born in Poland, called it Tort Makowy when she saw it. But she said that name can refer to many kinds of poppy seed CAKE, (i.e. as opposed to makowiec, which is like a bread...)

I am actually on line looking for a similar recipe. Laramie's cake is about 2" solid poppyseed and raisins, on what is almost like a Polish cheesecake crust. Heavenly!

I am also thinking about making a French Dame Blanche cookie with a poppyseed filling, sort of a delicious crossing of cultures...
